Turn by Turn navigation improvement
-
This topic has been touched on in a few discussion topic, but I don’t see it posted as a feature suggestion. Therefore, I thought I would open up a topic under feature suggestions. Mods please let me know if this is okay.
I would like to see a few improvements with the turn by turn navigation;
- Text is too small to read easily when moving quickly, wrist is bouncing while running
- Part of the instructions frequently get cut off (especially the street/trail name)
- It would also greatly improve the usability if a quick view of the map with the upcoming turn showed along with the notification (ie especially if you are on a data screen, for the notification to pop up with a small glimpse of the upcoming turn on the map). That way you have two ways to process the instruction - text and visual)
- timing of notifications has been reported as an issue by several other users. I myself haven’t tested this as much so cannot comment myself.
This point has been discussed more in this topic here:
-
100% agree after testing out the Suunto Race.
-
It would be nice to see the full text for POI notifications, like the notifications you get from Race Companion (the SuuntoPlus app).
-
That would be ideal, then you wouldn’t have to manually switch back and fourth between data screens and the map to check which is the correct fork on a trail.
-
I would love for this to be fixed. I’ve disabled turn-by-turn altogether because of the confusing timings (being notified either way too soon in advance, or about future turns before reaching the current one).
Or another suggestion that might be a bit easier to implement as an additional option:
Whenever you’re set to the map screen, a simple beep just before a turn would work nicely as a reminder to check which way to head next. That’d be ace too -
