@Gosem It is easy to read from the activity log.
Adjusting the reading to the actual water temperature always follows an e-function. you should be able to derive it from the graph.
Short version: it takes approx 3mins for the temp change in my example here:

@Gosem The Suunto 9 and Suunto 9peak needs about 55 seconds for the first temperature data point and 1 minute for every following, with actual firmware 2.23.20. Screenshot_20230605-181007_Suunto.png

But in the past with previous firmware it needs 10s for the first reading followed by nearly continuous measurement with changes of few seconds.

It is not the sensor that limits but the software.

@wotus I think the sensor is affected by body temperature. I had S9B for a couple of years and it never showed me believable temperatures…

this is only the case when out of the water. If the watch is inside the water, there is no effect from the body left.

@wotus question was about the Suunto Vertical.

@Egika It was only meant to be a comparison. Why should SV be worse in terms of temperature measurement than S9 or even Garmin F7? And such things can change with firmware updates.

@wotus I don’t think so. If the sensor is misplaced a firmware update will not help.

                        A quick question.

I remember in the previous firmware of the S9P (Pro as well?) that checking water temperature was quite easy and fast . The screen for altitude and temperature (if I recall it correctly) quickly showed the water temperature when the watch was inmersed. Now, temperature is shown together with altitude and pressure. However, when inmersing it takes much more to show the temperature.

In the current version of the manual, water temperature is only referenced under the “Weather” Suunto+ app (which requires some kind of training). Is it intended to work that way and, if it were the case, is there any reason for the change in the altitude/temperature screen?

My user case was yesterday, trying to check the temperature of the water in a mountain river with my S9PP before putting half of my body inside. The pain in my fingers trying to have a reading was enough hint for deciding before the real temperature was reached in the watch 😊 .

                        J

                          In my opinion 5-6 minutes.signal-2024-03-26-075954_002.png
