Suunto Vertical: Bug Collection
-
@lessthanmore
Custom trail mode
No S+
OHR
If I remember well I had to be on the map screen with route tracking. -
@Likarnik That is strange. I have had this happen once or twice. After a reboot it has never returned. If it happens again PM me and send logs to Suunto. In the PM tell me your Suunto username and the time you sent the logs and the time zone. I will file a bug report.

I cannot believe all these issues people are having I’m sorry you guys are having these issues. If one was to read this thread they would think this product is completely faulty. I just wanted to put it out there that my vertical works perfectly thus far none of the issues reported in here.
-
@gone-troppo Ditto so far.
-
@gone-troppo Thank you for your note. This is reassuring.
-
When I do indoor rowing why does my watch indicate the cadence and distance when it can’t calculate them ?!
-
@gone-troppo There are several “minor” bugs that need to be corrected.
In my case:- Initial setup required 2 soft reset to be able to configure intensity zones.
- Several S+ Apps doesn’t work as expected and doesn’t offer reliable data (and data offered is very different as data in the Apps and watch)
- Recovery and resources doesn’t work, is reported to Suunto also.
- Random reboots during activity: it happened to me one time this weekend, testing maps. When moving map in the screen watch during a “walking” activity suddenly rebooted. And it was only “10 days old”, not an old and overloaded watch.
- Random reboots when switching widgets: some people have suffered this, is not my case.
So, many of the problems are “minor” or not very important but the problem with the random reboots is very very important because if that issue becomes recurrent the watch becomes unstable and unreliable and it seems that are not isolated cases.
I hope that this initial software is an “advanced Beta version” and a more pulished software is coming and the unreliability problems will be solved.
-
It should definitely look better. These unexpected reboots are incredibly annoying. Recovery time is also to be improved - on Sunday I had 120h, this morning it was 8h… The S9PP may have been a bit run-of-the-mill but it looked more stable. I hope we won’t have to wait long for an update

Resources are still a joke. For example, I do a very easy bike ride for 1.5h. HR in zone 1 all the time -> resources drop sometimes after syncing the activity from 80% to 25%. I do a short stretching routine, resources drop sometimes from whatever value to 0%. The only Suunto watch where the resources seemed to work as intended, was the Suunto 7. I thought with real 24/7 HR it would also work correctly on the Vertical. It doesn’t. Get rid of this Firstbeat crap.

Turn by turn navigation with imported GPX Tracks (via STRAVA) doesn’t work. Anybody else with this problem?
Yes it’s the same on my S9 peak.

Turn by turn only works with routes made with SA or komoot

Adding another bug related to my previous bug of the watch crashing causing a soft reset of the watch. While starting a standard run, the vertical got stuck on the loading screen and was unable to start the run without soft resetting the watch again. I checked and the watch is up to date

These "bugs are not happening to all and that makes them a bit more complicated.
- I have not had the HR zone issue with the production firmware at all on 2 different Vertical watches set up from factory settings.
- All the S+ apps I have tested worked under the conditions I tested them, which are not working for you?
- Recovery and resources are working well for me and match other Suunto watches and generally match other brands as well. These are quite dependent on how the user sets them up.
-
- I have not had a random reboot during activity or moving/deleting/adding Widgets.
So, I am not saying you are not having these issues but wanted to make you aware that during testing these either did not occur or are rare even among the testers. So, it may take some time to get to the root of the issue. It is likely partly due to how you have the watch set up and how you are using it. I am sorry this is happening to you as it should not be but hopefully will be corrected quickly.
-
@Brad_Olwin Yes, clearly issues are not happening to all, I’m only talking about my experience.
The problem when setting intensity zones: just out of the box and after upgrading was impossible to set up rythm and power zones3. No problem with HR zones.
S+ not working for me: TP Heart Rate (TSS) and Strava Relative Effort. Data that SuuntoApp show are very very different to data calculated by watch, SuuntoApp, TrainingPeaks and Strava. So those SuuntoApps are using different source data to calculate and are not useful, no reliable data.
Recovery: after a workout the watch calculates a recovery time, OK. If you check periodically the Recovery time widget you can verify that it’s frozen and doesn’t change although my recovery and resources are going up. In previous watches that time is going down to reach 0 after severas hours. And if you save another workout with recovery time “active” the new recovery time erases the old and the loop start again. Or, in my case, you save a light session, like yoga or pilates, directly puts 0 en recovery time. A bit random.

Question please if someone could help I don’t know if it’s a bug or glitch but. I have created several custom sport modes. When I select a sports mode it takes me to the screen where I can change battery settings etc. anyway when I go into battery it defaults to “custom” which is dual band. I want to change it to endurance so I click that and click select but when I go to the sport it hasn’t changed and is still on custom dual band?? The only work around I found was to actually start the activity immediately pause It and then change it to endurance there that seems to work? Is this a known issue?
Side note I managed to get he 0% resources error others have mentioned here. I woke up with 72% did an easy zone 1 excercise and after uploading activity it now shows resources 0%
-
Never mind the above I worked out the problem after selecting the different battery mode I was pressing the middle button which was going back and then I was re selecting the activity and this would then default back to custom battery. Once you choose the battery mode you want you press upper right button to select and then you press it again until you get to start and then it will use the battery mode you chose. Sorry this might have been stupid to most but I couldn’t work it out so someone else may have the same problem and read this. User error
The resource going to 0% is still a legit issue though that happened today though.

I got my first annoying bug:
While hiking with a route activated, I got a notification with vibration that I’m not on track. So far so good, but the vibration didn’t stop for a long time. I tried different things (pause, resume, deactivate route…) but the vibration continues except for some little breaks.
Maybe a unknown massage feature?
Couldn’t sent logs but next time (Hopefully this will never happen again!).

The illustration of the region Lower Franconia is not correct.
-
Crazy, on my phone it is correct…

Hi! I turned off my Blood Oxygen under sleep. But it shows up in Suunto App? I double checked that it really was turned off and it was. Is there any other place I need to turn it off or is this a bug?
