Suunto Vertical is here
-
@suuntastic well I am not an “athlete”, but run quite a lot and for me the OHR on Suunto works like a charm.
I can get a spike at the beginning, especially in cold weather, but other then that it is consistent and does not vary much from the belt (with the belt (suunto), I have problems in hot weather, when my t-shirt is full of sweat and sticks to the belt, then I get wrong readings)

Got mine too
I decided to get titanium version. I was afraid that it will be hard to back from s9p to heavier watch, but it is not.
The screen is so sharp and better. Love it ! Good job SUUNTO!Only what I observed that other people ,that slow WiFi.
It’s only 72Mbit at 2.4 Ghz.
So download the speed is about 2.5 - 3 Mbit/s . After 30min its only downloaded 550MB

Quick feedback about “solar” feature…
was at 94% battery this morning. Bearly went out this morning (bright sun outside), and it’s back at 99% !! to be confirmed but very impressive ! -
@Tieutieu Just to compare. I have the non solar version. Monday 6pm charged it to 100%, did 2x weight training and 1h treadmill + a lot of surfing trough menus, changing watchfaces,…
Battery at 85%
-
@Tieutieu That would be impressive!
If it’s confirmed, I think that Suunto can change their advertisement to “unlimited power” instead of “up to one year”. -
@surfboomerang I had sunny days few weeks ago in Italy, where I did activities and at the end of the day was back to 100%.

About OHR, I made a small dual capture this noon.
Suunto Vertical with OHR compared to Garmin Edge paired with Polar H10 chest strap.A big first half of the ride is completely false. Then it went quite decent for the rest of the ride.
-
@v-sacre what power meter are you using with vertical and is it dual sided?
-
@Likarnik Assioma duo (dual side) were paired with both the Suunto Vertical and the Garmin Edge for this test. I usually only use Garmin for cycling activites but it worked properly. But with Suunto, you only have access to the power, no other cycling dynamics information.
-
@v-sacre thanks, I was wondering if it sends double values as Suunto (as far as I know) does not distinct left/right. Useful info as I am looking for one (also Assioma)
-
I have seen the review on dcrainmaker.com that silicone bracelet consists of three parts. For small and large wrists. In my order only two parts were included (Suunto Vertical Titan Sand).
Can you confirm?
-
@Likarnik usually left/right power meters communicate between each other and device (bike computer, watch) connects to only one unit which provides data for both left and right. so it should be no problem to use dual sided power meter with suunto watch
-
@suuntastic I’m an (ex) athlete and back when I competed heavily coaches used to ask us to wear HR straps to bed and report our nightly sleep and HR values if we woke up, and upon waking up in the morning (old polar watches). We had to write the values and how we felt in a journal.
HR values, sleep and recovery tracking are very important, and OHR works well for this application.
I use hr strap for activities.
-
@coqiner
yes. the watch comes with S/M strap.
“spareparts” or “accessories” straps come in 2 sizes. I have just received mine and there are 2 different length of the straps (without buckle) in the box -
-
@v-sacre I have only single sided Stages and it does not provide additional metrics. The question is, if those metrics are stored in fit file or not.
-
Hmm, I realized that in Vertical is possible to enable two Suunto plus apps in a same time.
Really good start, however app and guide are not working together yet. -
@kamarasm yet
Also, used S+ apps are now remembered.
-
@mikekoski490 Thanks! Interesting. Do you still wear sometimes S9PP during night? Is it comfortable. I can’t stand it 24/7. Probably therefore microfiber strap is better…
-
@dombo I would say no. But I am not the expert for that topic
