Iām a bit worried about the black steel vertical :
I have the S9 peak all black and it has a lot of scratch where the plack paint went out on the bezel .
Could it be the same with the steel Vertical? Could it be better with the titanium vertical ?
Thanks a lot for all this info ! -
@Kramble for sure titanium version will be a bit less sensible to scratchesā¦but anyway I would conclude this way : If your suunto doesnāt have sratches, push harder and bring it further. It is an adventure device !
-
Iām reading some comments on Des review and Iām like ā¦ What ?!
just a sample
āI just don't find it to be a good value in comparison to the Garmin Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire, at least in GBP. The Suunto is more expensive without all the features of the Garmin, which is also a tried and tested productā
-
@Kramble if both metals are painted over, paint is very likely the same, hence your experience will be similar.
-
@Tieutieu
Iām sorry, Iām just not getting tired of Antonās benchmark of āwhen does a watch look usedā
@Kramble
my S9B titanium did last relatively long without scratches on the bezel, maybe because of resistant coating? but of course if you use the watch as intended it will eventually get a nice adventurous and sporty patina
my assumption is that it will be less noticeable in the titanium version
-
@freeheeler The nice thing about titanium is it usually is not painted. It may scratch but light scratches can buff out easily. And of course hypoallergenic, lighter and rustproof. I find over time it ages better than steel watches.
I like that Suunto put the notches into the bezel in areas that usually get the most knocks - should camouflage them a bit.

@mikekoski490
I havenāt seen the Vertical solar ti yet in real, but from the pics I get the impression it has at least a surface treatment, maybe coating. but raw titanium does look different IMO.
but in general it is as you say -
Is it so that with the current maps implementation the routes do not provide turn-by-turn notifications? If so, I am a little confused as with other Suunto watches without maps, the routes are navigable but because Vertical has maps, the routes, which might be navigable in, say 9PP, may not be so in Vertical. Is this true?

Somehow you are confusing āfollowing a route with turn-by-turn indicationsā(every suunto watch does it, including the Vertical), and āroutable mapsā.
With the vertical you can off course follow a route and get turn-by-turn informations, with the huge advantage to have the maps as a background.
But you canāt go on the map to put a waypoint on it for example, and ask the watch to calculate the itinerary. Thatās what a āroutable mapā would do.
Itineraries/routes/waypoint for navigation have to be prepared on the app and send to the watch.
(concerning this point I have read that with the vertical it seems to be possible to synchronise new waypoints even during a current exercice ? => It would be great but Iām not certain it is soā¦ ) -

Okā¦I tought/it seems to me that I canāt synchronise the app with my S9B during an exercice (āwatch is occupiedā message ? ). Or I missed somethingā¦
-
yep, not POIs
-
@Tieutieu
You donāt need to manually sync, just toggle the route after youāve created it. -

Ohhhh such an idiot I amā¦of course just have to switch āuse in the watchāā¦
So, it works and I have never used itā¦as I was sure it needed full syncā¦ -
So the titanium is out of stock in the Suunto store. Good job Suunto
