@renton82 i bought there once couple of months ago, did not have any issues, let’s hope it stays like that

@vlado I didn’t read so many positive feedback about “xxxinn”, so I never trusted to buy there.
Already bought there lots of time never an issue. My issue was just with gls at the time.
-
@André-Faria good to know! However, i have already placed order on Suunto Shop.
-
@isazi How is it possible for them to send the watch before Suunto does? Is Suunto sending the watches with beta firmware to those retailers?
-
@surfboomerang I suppose so, remember that first leak/picture from that austrian shop…Watch is out, it does not matter at this point who sends it first

The watch is sent out to shops with a certain fixed firmware.
If you start it up it will download and install the most recent firmware as part of the initialisation and personalization of the watch. -
I ordered my Suunto Vertical Ti/Canyon from Amazon Canada the day before official launch (May 8th) as it showed up then (based on a poster here on this forum).
Amazon confirmation says:
Release date: Tuesday, May 16, 2023
Arriving 22 May - 23 May
Our biggest local outdoor equipment retailers do not show them stocked at all.

The Vertical looks great! Almost certainly going to get one. The only thing I worry about is the map zoom level only going up to 500m. Sounds fine when following a route, but if I’m not and just want to see where on earth I’ve got to on the trails, I’d definitely want to see higher. Not sure if it’s that way due to an issue with rendering details at higher levels. Anyone know why this might be, and whether higher zoom levels might perhaps get added in future updates?
-
@elliott isn’t there a full route overview option like on the S9 series by tapping on the navigation screen?
-
@elliott
just as a sidenote (maybe it’s clear anyway…) 500m zoom shows 1km diameter as 500m is the radius, plus you can pan in all directions.
no idea about the rest… -
@surfboomerang Good to know, thanks, although I was thinking of the circumstance when a route wasn’t loaded.
@freeheeler Stupidly, I hadn’t realised that, so really glad you mentioned it, thanks!
-
@surfboomerang
apparently not… as navigating on the navigation screen will change from S9 to SV -
@freeheeler I can imagine someone wants to see an overview of where they are on the entire route for orientation purposes.
-
By the way, do trails on the new maps indicate terrain difficulty? I.e. by color or dashed vs dotted, etc.
-
@surfboomerang
agree, I’ve used that several times, too.@DMytro
do you mean like road surface as in SA maps?
it’s similar to topographic maps and just shows trails, no surface indication…
edit: topo maps show trail width as I understand, no difficulty
-
@freeheeler I mean like the screenshot you’ve attached, dashed line is some difficulty and dotted line is another difficulty.
-
@DMytro
I will check once I get the chance and let you know -
Btw, there were also some mentions of live tracking/satellite communication in some past surveys. Guess this didn’t make it to this watch.

The Vertical is more comfortable to wear than the 9 Baro during sleep, and at first, it was a little less comfortable compared with the 9PP, but I got used to the Vertical pretty quickly. And, more importantly, the sleep measurements are lots better for me than the 9PP was … theyre very close to what I had from the Baro, which always seemed superbly accurate.
Good to here that, as I am very pleased of sleeping tracking of my S9b !
I’d like to also confirm something concerning the power sensor : I saw on a comment somewhere that « for training either you choose power or HR ».
My interpretation of that comment was that « for better interpretation of training, you have to focus on HR or power data’s »For me to be clear : I will be able to use both HR sensor and wrist power at the same time with the vertical ? All my fit level are based on HR data’s right now with my S9b, I’d like to keep it the same with the vertical, and using the power data as a complementary indicator.
Thanks for your thoughts !
Mat

wasn’t this comment meant as a guideline what you should focus on? because some people think, pace, distance or duration is key.
you can customize sport modes, arrange the fields as you want and see both data
