SuuntoPlus - Anaerobic threshold
-
I used the SuuntoPlus app “Anaerobic threshold” and in my eyes the calculstions are not correct.
According to the test methods for the estimated running pace the whole 30 minutes are used, for the estimated heart-rate only the last 20 minutes.
For the heart-rate SuuntoPlus calculates the right values but for the pace SuuntoPlus takes not 30 minutes but also the last 20 minutes.

@Mitch9 I’ll check it on my next activity.

@isazi I think moving this thread is not correct because SuuntoPlus isn’t watch specific. Maybe we should create a new topic for SuuntoPlus.
I wait for your feedback after testing.

I tried the function again and can confirm this behavior.
In my eyes this should be changed but I’m not an expert in threshold testing so maybe I’m wrong.

@Mitch9 In my opinion the information you really want from doing an anaerobic threshold test is your heart rate. Sure it’s helpful to have information on your pace. Though since it’s a 30 minute all out effort you should not get a massive difference in average pace over 30 minutes or the last 20 minutes. Plus for me it makes sense to look at the pace during the same period.
For what it’s worth. TrainingPeaks describes it as pace for last 20 minutes.

Sorry if I never replied, but my pace and HR had the same average in all the 10 minutes sections of the 30 minutes effort, so not a good test

@isazi said in SuuntoPlus - Anaerobic threshold:

Then it was a perfect test.

@Mitch9 I’ll ask the app developer for clarification.

I just checked the description and the last 20 minutes are used.
