Suunto 9 Peak Pro?

I wonder can you still scroll through the available metrics in the pause screen? I hope that remains…also does ascent and avg pace/speed get included in these metrics in the pause screen, that would be a great add, I’ve always wished those were in that menu.

Fitness tests are available with S+ apps, also for older devices. Like othostatic test? Didn’t find it…
-
@Frederick-Rochette No orthostatic test yet, it is mistakenly mentioned on the website. May appear later.
There are other though, FTP, Anaerobic Threshold and so on -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Great video! Does S9PP have Apnea abilities as well? what is the depth limit for scuba, only 15m?

I just want to take a moment to be more precise about some comments I shared before about dual frequency, as apparently Joa is being attacked in some other communities and I would not like that my comments are used there.
I am a trained computer scientist, not an antenna engineer, but worked with antennas in other fields, so I am only making the point that theoretically you can have a single antenna for L1 and L5 in this case, and do your processing in software or specialized hardware to improve the SNR of any. This does not mean that, because something can be done, it should be done. The S9PP is slightly thinner than the F7SS, and it has far superior battery life in the same settings (all systems, one frequency): 40 hours (but I usually measure more than 50) against 26. So this could be one reason why Suunto decided not to go with dual frequency for a small watch. And GPS performance of the S9PP is not bad, better than S9P in various conditions. Suunto could have also decided that the one antenna design would not have produced the performance that they expected, and they will use a two antennas approach for two frequencies in future watches. I don’t know.
Just to clarify that I do not support people mocking a company or a reviewer because of some design decision, and mine was only a technical comment on some details in this discussion, nothing more.

You can post links to antenna harmonics that explain the problems of design or use simpler analogy of using all season tyre vs winter and summer or using a winter tyre in tropics.

@zhang965 hardware issue?

@isazi Why do you even care? I mean this forum is really friendly and supportive. Giving us support how to make most of our products and some hints about future products. I have been following Suunto on Telegram for some time now. I started out of curiosity, but the channel is in Spanish language I do not understand. However I later discovered translate function to follow the channel more regularly. Joaquin and Raul are doing tremendous job, they are actually supporting over 800 people 24/7. From simple funny questions to more difficult ones. They are showing GPS performance comparison from different devices, explaining how to use devices with pictures and movies etc. But question whether the device is dual frequency or not, should finish with yes or no answer. And that’s it. How device works is Suunto’s know how. I believe engineers spent many hours to find optimal solutions and compromises. Most of people on forums do not know or understand how tech stuff works. They just read forums, other opinions and criticize. It is never ending toxic spiral. My point is you do not owe us anything. Each of us can read details about device on official website, reviews and decide whether the device is suitable or not. Your help to us is just bonus, additional optional service that comes with the product. I have great respect for it. Additionally, you do not buy Porsche or Samsung TV and then go discussing with their experts whether tech solutions are right or wrong. They pay engineers to do that.

The items in the pause screen cycle automatically. Avg speed, ascent are not in there…

@freeheeler As an engineer I hate disrespectful comments, because I know much hard work is invested in product development in short time with limited resources. My post was reply to isazi’s explanation, but it is meant for all Suunto people that keep this community running.
-
@Egika Thanks that is helpful. I like the auto scroll. Wish ascent was there

Apologies if this has been asked and answered, but does anyone have insight into why the major YouTubers (Dez, Chase, etc.) haven’t put out reviews of the S9PP yet? I saw DC Rainmaker mention that he got his embargo dates confused, so that explains why he missed yesterday, but he doesn’t have it up yet either at this point.
I know Suunto’s parent replaced (or re-evaluated) some of their PR agencies worldwide since the acquisition, so maybe there wasn’t as much effort into sending out samples as they’ve had in the past?

@isazi is it possible to set mor alarms than on my S9?
Id Like to have a shortcut for starting activitys. Most of the time I do roadcycling. So it cold feel comfortable to start the trainingapp by less buttonpushingactivity.
Im really exited about 9PP. But I’ll wait a litte. S9 still works fine and may be all the new Software (Suunto+) comes more in direction to cyclers like me.
-
@TrailEyes I do not know for sure, I would suspect that if Ray missed the embargo all clicks are gone, and if he has time will post the in-depth review the 25th when the watch will actually be shipping. Ray always says that he doesn’t review pre-production software, so that’s my guess.
Dez never reviews Suunto products, and I don’t follow Chase -

Number of alarms is the same.

I am with you! During development we tested a long press to get directly from the home screen to the start screen of the previous activity, basically how the S7 works. I loved it, but it was just a test and not included in release software. I will keep pushing to have it, it is so useful!
However, compared with the S9 you already save one click. Upper button brings you to the list of sports already.Im really exited about 9PP. But I’ll wait a litte. S9 still works fine and may be all the new Software (Suunto+) comes more in direction to cyclers like me.
Sure, if I had to buy a new watch I would definitely buy the S9PP today, but my S9P is still perfectly fine so I am not going to do that for now. And S9 is still supported with updates for now (I have zero idea for how long, just know that we are testing already next, i.e. not October, software).

Just watched DCs pixel watch review and saw this:
He is testing S9PP just no review yet, also pretty bad OHR compared to chest strap (S9PP - blue line).
-
Seen this one yesterday
https://youtu.be/OQn6pVQI-BEDez did a couple of suunto reviews, but then focused on other tools, brands
-
Look at the whole picture. pretty accurate. Last interval, you never know how the watch was worn and what disturbance did happen… Difference of hands used…
Maybe also future firmware updates…
This is highly personal. For example S9P did for me a great job while running (same values nearly as smart sensor), hiking unfortunately not. Excited to test S9PP… Btw what are the physical changes in OHR Sensor? Depth of measurement?
