Sync to suunto app

Seems like most of the time activities are not synced to suunto app in the background. To have it synced, I often need to boot the suunto app, shake the watch etc. Is this expected behaviour? I don’t understand why the watch never syncs anything without me actively trying to force it one way or another. Is the point to save battery or what? Maybe this is explained somewhere but could not find it in the manual. I’m running the app on ios if that matters.

@6294946 Phone model which version iOS? Watch firmware? Beta Suunto App or store download?

@Brad_Olwin iphone 11 with the latest ios, watch has the latest firmware and app store downloaded suunto app. This issue has persisted for as long as I have had the vertical so I am not sure it is related to any single software update.

@6294946 You are on 17.2 for the phone? I would download the beta app, it is unlikely to have issues.
Try two things, first disconnect the watch from the phone, forget the watch in the app and then forget the app in the watch.
Uninstall the app from the phone.
Download the beta app or if you prefer the store app. Repair the watch.Sometimes for me the watch is not connected in the iPhone BT settings. if that occurs to you simply touch the watch in the BT settings and it should reconnect. I have reported this issue to Suunto.
