Software update 2.30.32
-
I agree with the sleep tracking. And also compared to Oura numbers. It now also handles better the situations if you stand up for something but go back to sleep. So good work on this
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos sadly the freezing step counter / calories bug has not been fixed by this update - even though support told me it would.
Just happened again for the second time.
Woke up in the morning, because of activities ahead plug the Race to the charger, after charging started the day.
2 hours later, I notice: 3 steps / 0 calories.
So a restart is needed again to reactivate the step counter.
This is still an open bug.
I know some fans will immediately answer they donāt care or how dare you that you are watching these stupid numbers, get on with your lifeā¦
All I am saying is - if there is a feature, it should simply work. -
@Olaf-Gottschalk I knew the same that it should be fixed.
Do others have the issue ?
Btw they donāt get updated at all like even after hours ? Also in the app?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos no. Stuck at whatever low number and 0 calories. App shows exact same data after sync.
Restart the watch - then the steps immediately increase as you walk.
Another problem I noticed here: the sleep is also not synced to the app. Itās in the watch, but not the app. After a restart, the sleep data is synced correctly and the step counter starts.
Both times I had this issue (first with old, this time with new firmware) were in the same situation where I needed to charge right after I got out of bed.
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk I am raising this issue internally. Iāll see what the response is. Do you think itās related to the charging? Ie charging the watch stops calories steps and sleep sync ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos that is just my suspicion.
As it happened to me twice exactly like this and not any other way.Something goes wrong also with the sleep syncing when you connect it directly after waking up. Thatās what I noticed in relation to the missing stepsā¦
But as I said - with only 2 data points itās hard to definitely answer.
-
Could you be also so kind to raise this ctl/atl/tsb/tss not syncing correctly between the watch and the app? ļø
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Good morning Dimitrios, maybe offtopic, but who knowsā¦
After a conversation with freeheeler, I sent my log-data to suunto because the watch went blank during battery charching. Firmware 2.30.26, Suunto Vertical. Could it be a coinsident?
DidnĀ“t want to disturb. Have a nice weekend, everybody! -
@SuuntoR this is fixed here now if you refer to the values being displayed 0 CTL 0 TSB every morning.
-
@SuuntoR The issue was also commented after new Suunto Vertical software was launched and happens to all users with SV, SR and S9PP. Could be related to SuuntoApp not sending correct data to the watch?
-
My guess would be, its still on watch software. This guess is because i have noticed that those incorrect tsb etc. numbers will be ok after the soft reset AND even before the sync to the app. So it seems the correct numbers are already in the watch but āstuckā or something and the soft reset brings those back to lifeā¦
Edit: i could not repeat the behaviour it would sync correct numbers after softreset without syncing again with the app. But anyway the watch softreset helps so i still would guess its on the watch sideā¦
Edit 2: when I think this little further, maybe you @jjpaz are right that its something to do with SA not sending the data correctly to the watch. After power off and on, the watch wont show any tsb etc data before syncing to the app. So there is no right or wrong data. But after the sync, data is incorrect on the watch (in my case it seems to show yesterdays tsb etc. on the watch). So watch must get wrong information from Suunto app? But why? I mean like I have written couple of post before, after the midnight sync between watch and the app is ok and the numbers match. So after midnight sa sends right data but not anymore in the next morning. But the soft reset for watch helps. Is this some date/time bug, watch somehow gives wrong information about the date or time when syncing in the morning. And thats why SA sends incorrectly yesterdays data to watch and after that watch āfreezesā also with the new stats for current day like tssā¦? Do you already see a tin foil hat in my head? but iām sure this is not very difficult bug to be solved after allā¦

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
I donāt have all of @Olaf-Gottschalkās problems with sleep measurement, which works well, for example. On the other hand, like everyone else, Iām affected by the fact that the indicators donāt synchronise properly, especially the HRV.
And Iāve just done the test,
1 Synchro iOS - SRace, multiple times.
2 The two tools are misaligned.
3 Restart SRace
4 Synchro iOS - SRace.
5 The two tools are now aligned (both on the 7-day average and on the past night). This behaviour leaves a lot to be desired. Itās abnormal that it doesnāt adjust perfectly at every synchronisation.
-
Does OHR LEDs still blink after wearing the watch? If not, try going to HEART RATE/BLOOD OXYGEN widgets, etc. If OHR LEDs still blink, go to sleep widget and test step counter again. If OHR LEDs wonāt blink no matter how hard you try, then 12s upper button reset please.
-
After the update sleep tracking has improved, at least for me. Last night was spot on. Watch still doesnāt measure steps during the night, but at least awake segments look correct.
Biggest disappointment is no custom battery mode. I used it all the time. Meaning no touch screen enable/disable and no option to turn off display during workouts. I think it would be beneficial for amoled screen to be able to turn it off. It would last longer.
-
@DuÅ”an-KoviÄ But you knew it didnāt exist before you bought the product
Itās not a bug, itās a feature that you want and that Suunto has never announced on this product. -
@Arnaud-Lclr I didnāt, I had a couple of suunto watches, and all of them had it. Vertical also has custom battery mode, so it seems logical that Race has it also
-
I noticed something ānewā today. Straight after waking up, my total sleep was shown by the watch as ~6,5 hours (0:15 - 06:45). This was afterwards synced and visible on my phone. After a while this was ācorrectedā to ~8,5 hours (0:15 - 08:45). The latter corresponds exactly with my actual sleep. No unreasonable awake time was visible anymore either. So it looks like the watch reevaluates the sleep after a while and corrects it after a new synchronisation.
-
@wmichi Yes I am on the same firmware as you. I will post this to the test site and see how we should proceed. It may require you all send logs but I will put this up. Clearly something that is reasonably prevalent is going on.
Never mind, I see that @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos already commented on this. I am in the US so I miss a lot happening while I am sleeping. We should be able to figure out what is happening and get a solution going.
-
@Brad_Olwin Thanks! I wonder if it works generally for everyone in the US and here in Europe we all have the same problem. Maybe related to the timezone the user is in. Or related to daylight saving timeā¦ either way, I can provide logs at any time
I switched today before noon to S9PP (with newest firmware) and did a hard reset. After setting the watch up again, all the training stats have been correct. Then I did a 30min core workout, synced with the app and to my surprise, the values on the watch are still in line with the values in the app. With the Race this was never correct, even on the latest firmware. I am already curios what the watch displays tomorrow morning
-
@Theo-Lakerveld I saw the same on my Race. Right after waking up it only showed 5 hours sleep, 30min later the values have been corrected automatically (spot on),
