Suunto plus and battery
-
Have you noticed an over usage of battery with Race companion ?
-
@Antoine S+ apps will use more battery. Depending on the app battery usage will differ.

@Brad_Olwin i have used my suunto vertical with route guidance (ETA, etc…) + maps + race companion in performance mode, but screen not stayed on the map.
The battery was empty after ~42h instead of 60h.
However i suspect the “raise to wake feature” for backlight which was also activated… -
@Antoine Difficult to quantify, I regularly use it but I don’t see excessive consumption

Could some kind of rating system in the S+ store be an option? So the developer can indicate if a S+ app is a high impact app or not?
-
@surfboomerang I think it will depend on how it is used. S+ apps that continuously update data I would expect to use more battery. However, I have used Ultra Race predictor, Ghost Runner and Time in HR Zones in various ultras and had no large effect on battery consumption. I suspect that time on the map screen will have a larger effect than S+ apps would.

FWIW today I’ve used both decoupling and ghost runner S+ apps. I’ve used the Suunto smart sensor as HRM). Battery before activity was 62%. After 1.5h of activity (nordic walking) dropped to 56%.
