What do you expect from the next update?
-
@Likarnik Not tracking everything makes my watch almost bug-free. Besides, bugs are part of tech products, Garmin included, with pages of forums detailing unresolved bugs that remain on watches, which become obsolete every two years to push people to overconsume. Anyway, I’ll stop here as I’ve made my point: not a huge fan of Garmin, to say the least.
-
@Mountain That’s right, I’ve been using Suunto for many years for this reason (Ambit/Traverse times) and I don’t regret it, but objectively speaking, Suunto has much simpler software and there are plenty of serious bugs during updates.
-
@cosme-costa The last few updates - inability to sync with phone, battery drain, no WiFi connection, OHR turning off, to name a few - each of them could be called a serious bug.
-
I’m a new, happy owner of the Suunto Vertical (used Suunto 9 Peak Pro and Garmin Forerunner 255 before). The two most important things I’d like to see are:
-
An “exercise only” mode for the raise-to-wake feature (my Suunto 9 Peak Pro had this, but it was removed ).
-
Perfectly centered hour and minute text when the watch is inactive on most of the watch faces. The watch faces are very good, but some of them look “broken” when seconds disappear.
-
-
In new update want sync weather via WiFi - it is very sad see every morning empty weather info and open app just for gathering this data
Will be great, if also trainings will sync though WiFi, not only BLE connection. -
@Kosta I suspect that the active WiFi module is much more power-consuming and that is why Bluetooth is always used.

@maszop said in What do you expect from the next update?:
inability to sync with phone
Not true, at least on Android
battery drain
Not true, at least on the SV
no WiFi connection
Acknowledge by Suunto and if you read some post solved in the future posts. In my case I haven’t had problems, I been able to add a wifi net and download maps.
OHR turning off
Acknowledge by Suunto, and seems that is not easy to solve. they have given a solution (in my opinion they should have given it sooner)
Do not get me wrong, I would like to to have my Suunto bug free, but sometimes this happens. They know about it and they say that they are working on it, in my experience I have to believe them will solve it.

Yes please!!! I’ve asking for this , here and in the Spanish forum.
I would also like to see that when you use the stopwatch and use the main screen after 30seconds, when the screen autoblocks, that the stopwatch is still visible.

Oh dear, these are also my 2 little things that I would love to be fixed.

The problem is only partially solved. A lot of users (including me SV) still have this problem with battery drain.
I don’t want to comment on the rest because someone here is probably out of touch with reality. Just look even here on the forum at the problems with the last few updates.

Hi everyone ,
here’s my whishlist for coming upgrades :Map :
- When ruler is on, it would be nice to also have an option for :
a) azimouth (degrees from the ruler line tonorth);
b) coordinates (in current format) of the actual point marked from cursor;
c) Optionally save theese coordinates in a waypoint; - Add more zoom out (possibly to 10 km and more) ;
Backlight and flashlight :
- Option to a “Military mode” with red backlight that don’t degrade the night vision .
Notifications :
- Double the available answers;
- Allow to combine/concatenate multiple answers before sending (intronucing a “commit” on the answers list) .
Watch faces :
- As someone said, not more but just better;
General use :
- A fast key (a shortcut) to rapidely mark a waypoint (MOB-key) .
Timer/stop watch :
- A graphic circle that fill or emty as time go .
Hi, i’ve just discovered, almost after a year, that all features i asked for at point 1) of my wish list are been sostantially implemented :
I don’t know in what updated they were introducted 'cause i can’t find any mention in change log or even user manual (both italian and english) .
Anyway, if you, like me dind’nt notice , it is now possible mark a waypoint directly from map when the ruler is shown . Scrolling the menu it shows some new (at least for me) option :- marking / deleting a ruler-point. On my watch seems there are up to 10 ruler-point marcable.
- reading on screen the total distance of the ruler-point’s route .
- saving as a poi the last end of ruler (and then , indirectly, getting bearing of it using bearing navigation).
I’m really sorry if all you yet were aware of this. Hope not been boring (i just found a post on race’s section of this forum whitout any reply, so certanly i’m not really the only user that noted that…)

@cosme-costa yes suunto know about the Problem. Thats right… But suunto also know about the missing contour lines in the bavarian alps. Over 500m zoomlevel. More than 16 month. Until today No solution. How long we have to wait?! How long YOU will wait? Let it be to make new Firmware --> correct the old one first and all known bugs… But if the 3.xxxxxx Firmware from the Suunto ow234 RUN will come we will have more bugs again
-
@rooldaa No, because in my work I can’t use it since the new policy.
And no, am I not a Garmin fanboy
Would change back to Suunto in a heartbeat if it was like before. -

@maszop I totally disagree as well. I came from Garmin, I used them since the first Forerunner probably 20 years ago.
I have had far less trouble with the two Suunto GPD models I have owned where it counts (for me anyway) recording activities.
I had countless issues with a variety of Garmin products. Fenix Watches, Edge bike Computer and handheld GPS units.
I have stuck with Suunto as they just work for me. I’m not bother about steps, if the watch tells me to train, sleep, all day heart rate etc. I just want the watch to record my activity and help me navigate when needed.
I can’t fault the Vertical and the maps are light years ahead of the laggy maps on my last Fenix.
