HRV and recovery
-
Seems like suunto has updated the HRV tab with more information explaining how to read HRV, though it states my watch does not support HRV. Addition of recovery tab under training zone as well showing HRV… seems this launching of new feature is imminent.
-
something is brewing…
-
@leafs93 I can’t seem to find this HRV tab… in the app.

-
@leafs93 i have the Vertical, mine also says that my watch does not support PV (HRV), do you know how to fix that?
-
@Kristin-Jensen mine too… it’s not pushed out to us yet but I believe it will be soon. Fingers crossed
-
@Tieutieu i have the beta App and this Screen i dont have. I only have the widget wirh HRV but without Measurement. Do you have app for iPhone or android?!
-
This Autumn the Vertical will get this, it does not work with your current firmware version.
-

Do you know if it will work also with S9PP (and other watches)?
-
@martintrail @taziden S9PP is also getting the update, with lots of changes and features. Not sure if HRV is actually included in them though.

As I wrote, I’m on IOS (iphone).
I’m using the last SA public version (2.28.0, installed yesterday). -
@isazi do you know which algorithm will be used? Is it first beat or is Garmin still owning the algorithm?
-
@Stefan-Kersting It is not FirstBeat.
-
@Brad_Olwin the reason why I ask is because I was on a lecture where an author presented his new book “Pulskur”. It is a book about HRV (just in norwegian but it will be translated to english this year) and the autor used a garmin watch to track the stress. It was pretty interesting to hear which paramteres influence the stress/HRV. I asked about other watches, Suunto, Polar etc. but his opinion was that garmin had the best algorithm to track HRV. Have to mention that he doesn\t have a contract with garmin and the book is more general about lifestyle and how lifestyle impacts HRV. Now I am even more excited and can\t wait for the update this autumn
-
@Stefan-Kersting is this book also in German language?
-
@GiPFELKiND unfortunately not. But it will be available in GB, USA and Australia next year said the author. I havn\t read it self, but the lecture yesterdau was very interisting.

Last SA has HRV so I suppose will come. I also hope that there is a possibility to measure HRV only during sleep (I mean to activate HR only during sleep). I’m more than happy of my purchase after this news!
-
@isazi the S9PP manual already spoke about HRV from the beginning and I feel betrayed it wasn’t included in the first place. This is false advertising in my book.
-
@twekkel I believe that HRV is used for determining the Resource score. So I don’t think false advertising.
