PLZ fix the Vertical…

@TyreseJ4
I mean, I could agree about inaccuracy, alarm limit, but “outdated software” … I really don’t get it. What’s modern ?
So I’m asking, as I’m really curious -

So I’m asking, as I’m really curiousI don’t have a vertical. I had a s9p and I think at least one thing that is really classified as outdated and is present on the vertical: lag.
But, again , for some customers (and I believe most of them): this doesn’t matter.

@Ollipolli Cannot agree more. The only thing: Watchfaces are a kind of taste. I liked the default one because of the readability. I also liked the hardware / design of the watch. But the bugs / errors were to much for a watch in the price range from 540-750 Euro. So i have sent it back.
-
For starters, is it really difficult for Suunto to optimise their software so as to minimise lag between screens (watch face to widget)? Release a €800 watch and still laggy. Then there is the constant calibrations on altimeter and compass. Guides are good but half-baked, in my opinion.
I love the watch but some issues continue to persist. Would appreciate if Suunto showed its own software some love.
-
@altcmd +1 on this one. I honestly don’t care about the watchface, but what really bothers me, is the UI lag. Not sure if someone has used a Coros or Garmin recently, but it’s a totally difference experience. Despite many many faults, I still like the watch, but I don’t get why a watch in 2023 is so slow… there’s no reason for that.

Please don’t call it’s slow, it is Zen.

I love your optimism, I wish I can reach this level once …

@altcmd it is not just software optimization, in some cases it is the screen refresh rate that is slow. Anyway, widgets will change with next software release (this also reduces the lag for reasons).

@isazi Will the Suunto 9 be getting any updates to fix crashing? I’d love to use it but I can’t. After further testing it appears the problem is when the device is trying to load external sensors (HRM, STRYD, etc.). I want to get the Vertical but there’s no way I’m going to get the new if they cannot fix the old. I’d rather not replace one problem with another.

I want to believe that if all Suunto 9 users had that issue not only we would see more complaints but also that Suunto would communicate on your side.
If I was on your side I would try reset and if it didn’t solve roll back to previous version of firmware and see if problems persists . -
@TyreseJ4 I cannot promise anything. On my side, I reported the crashes with logs that were reported on this forum to Suunto, so they are aware of the specifics. Cannot do more than this myself.

@Frank-Stefan genau so sehe ich das auch

Personally would really like multiple alarms. One repeating for weekdays and one for weekends

Step counter is basic stuff these days but its completely useless on the the vertical.
Same goes for resources, sleep tracking etc. essentially pointless, im not even sure anyone would have missed them if they weren’t present at launch.
Imo if these metrics aren’t accurate what value do they add and why not just focus on other things?Im hopeful for a significant update but I do worry with the way things are at the moment.
I (and many others) got burned by Suunto many years ago with the original ambit. I hope this wont end up being the same. -
A few here rightly hold the opinion that these quantified metrics are a flawed approach to training and I agree at some level. The challenge is that Suunto is not the market and is in no position to dictate what gets sold in the market. To survive it either needs to play along or carve a niche. Unfortunately, to survive Suunto needs volume and to get volume, the software needs to play ball. Currently, the way Suunto has gone about its software maintenance suggests that it will be another one that will wither. What was meant to be a significant change with the Spartan in some sense was overwritten after the 9P.
As I said earlier, when and in what form the software updates arrive will indicate to me how much Suunto cares about its software. Let’s see if it is tomorrow or 31 Dec. -

Let’s see if it is tomorrow or 31 Dec.Let’s believe Suunto is doing the best they can with what they have. Hence they are now talking about changing algorithm provider. And I want to believe that those metrics worked for some testers.
I think it is not a matter of caring, it will be a matter of being able to do it. -
@André-Faria I am sure Suunto is trying but saying ‘if they are able to’ is rather defeatist. Hire the right people to push your software. And yes, I do want to believe what some testers are saying about how the new algos are working but the reality is my personal experience here matters and that will happen when there is an update. Let’s see!

Which testers said that…
