Watch turned off and does not reboot
-
@surfboomerang I had it in Snorkel Mode. When out of the water it had about 30min and 5 dives recorded. So I guess the answer is yes m.
After being back on shore the watch went funny. I could not navigate it probably. I the. Did a soft reset and the watch went blank. It is blank since.
-
@darxmurf I tried your suggestions in various combinations. The watch remains unresponsive. I think the watch is dead. Once back in Europe I’ll send it back to Suunto.
I am using Suunto since the early Ambit versions., plus I have a D6I. This happened never to me before.
Thank you for your help though.
Regards

My brother just received his watch back. Here is the explanation.
Dear Customer, I have examined your unit for the faults reported in the fault description and performed all the necessary tests. I discovered that the issue you have faced is caused by a known software bug. We are currently working on solving this issue and the problem should be fixed in the next software release. Best regards
-
@darxmurf I also forwarded all the forum discussions and topics to Suunto, in case there is some information here that’s relevant for the developers
-
@isazi : Thank you Isazi. It will be nice to understand this “monster bug”, to get some recommendations from Suunto to avoid it and a procedure to reboot the SV if necessary.
-
@bruno-tanqueray if they found the bug in question and already have a fix, I strongly suggest them to push that update asap
-
@darxmurf : Yes you are right I’m waiting also this update!

Hello,
I just received my SV few minutes ago, which had been repaired in Finland after more than 15 days (DHL was very slow due to bank holidays in France). Good news, it’s not a new watch but my model repaired without reset and return to factory settings. So all my settings and maps have been kept. However no new firmware, I stay with 2.25.66 ;-(
The battery of my watch was completely empty, I understand that to obtain a reboot it is the best solution. But how do we do this on our own when faced with a watch that is off and no longer responding to anything… There must be a solution while waiting for the firmware update! -
@bruno-tanqueray Yes, it is a very unfortunate situation. For such situations there needs to be a mechanical reset.
In my case, we are here in the middle of the Caribbean and the Suunto Vertical died. There is no way to do a hard reset and get this watch going again… Even if this bug is fixed, the watch needs to be sent to Suunto. Since the watch is unresponsive, it cannot be updated also. Connecting it to Suunto Link does not do anything.
This is a €800 watch. By the time we have returned home and there is some resolution, it’s going to be 4 weeks.

@zhang965 I received a new exchange watch from Suunto a week ago after sending in my first vertical due to multiple crashes (6 pieces since May) and 4 complete resets. Everything has been fine for a week until today. Just plugged in for the first time to charge, the watch just wanted to turn off, the screen is black. Took the watch off the charger (thought the watch is in standby mode, like when not moved). So take the watch from the charging cable and continue to black. Only pressing the top right button for 12 seconds starts the clock. WHAT IS LOS SUUNTO??? I could really cry. New watch, 1 week old… and now this again?
Will this be the next watch I have to send in for repairs a second time? -

Hello, that’s typical again, as soon as you report a problem that has occurred, the ORIGINAL post is closed… Shouldn’t anyone say anything about it or what?! unbelievable! It seems that no one here has any idea where some of the problems are coming from, or know for sure that something big in the software shit is up. So that nobody communicates about it now and thus no new posts are added, the post slides down from the top and further down where nobody reads it anymore! This makes me really angry! I find clarification about the problems that some users have must be brought to the point, not covered up as is done here by closing posts!

@GiPFELKiND I think it is good to know that this is the Suunto community forum, not the offical Suunto communication platform. Some Suunto employees are active on this forum, but they can only help us within certain limits because of their contacts. Just be glad they want to help the best they can.
For official support and communication, please contact Suunto support or go to www.suunto.com

If your post is about this issue why not post here and centralize the info? Seems ok to me. Nobody told you to not post here.
Regarding clarification…tell me one brand that clarifies things? On garmin forums there are also big issues and you have zero info apart from “engineers are looking on it”.
Not saying I like it, but that is the way it is…If I was on you side I would also be angry, but unfortunately I believe it is like that in most brands (see the issues of sensors dropping, battery estimate and others on the Edge 1040…).
If you are not happy try to get your money back, life’s too short to be annoyed by a electronic device. -
Hello, that’s typical again,
Dude, let’s make this crystal clear.
You are spamming the forum with the same message, and you spam in chat too and that’s useless.I understand you’re angry, but WE can’t solve your issue, write to SUUNTO SUPPORT please.
That said, as @André-Faria wrote, no one is muting anyone here, in fact the message wasn’t deleted it was just closed to avoid duplicates, since you’ve already posted and got some replies here (a thread for the same issue) and in another thread too.
-
Not sure if it’s the same issue, just charged the watch today and coming back after a few hours, it was like turned off. Long press on the top button did restart it. I don’t like this kind of jokes
Not sure if related either but 5 minutes before charging it, I quickly cleaned the watch under tap water and dried it of course. -
@darxmurf That may have been a simple reboot. How low on battery was the watch when you started charging?
I have several charging cables; one of them is very picky and vibration of the watch from a notification can stop the charging, stop map downloading, etc. I noticed this when my maps would stop downloading, I turned of notifications on the watch until map downloading was finished.
This is one of about 3 or 4 of the same type of charging cable. -
@Brad_Olwin the battery was around 40%, after resetting it it was a 99%. I don’t have notifications enabled or anything making the watch vibrating, it’s probably something else. But it’s working as normal now.
But still, waiting for a new firmware -
@darxmurf exactly this happened to me more times, but at least the watch charged. on the other hand at least twice I put watch to charge, I was sure it start charging but when I come back it was on the same level. not good, as I need to quickly recharge before activity
