Map downloads do not start
-
Just switched from main competitor to the Suunto Vertical ans first impression: Great product - with some software issues (which can be expected in a new product).
Wifi is set up, watch is connected to the charger. Mobile phone and watch are in the same wifi. Watch is not further away than one meter from the router. Router and watch were soft-resetted.
I tried everything to start a map download for different maps (big and also quite small ones), but the download simply does not really start. The app tells me the watch is ready, download on the watch tells “downloading map” (in German) and there is a moving part of a circle visible on the watchface. After some seconds “Download interrupted” (in German) is shown, remarked by please connect to wifi and charger again.
Is there some issue with the map-server? Do I have more things I can try to do on my side?

@sebastiant
Maybe there’s some update ongoing on the server.
Did you try a soft reset ? -
@sebastiant
Be sure the charger is really well attached to the watch -
@sebastiant are you on current watch firmware?
-
@sartoric Yes, soft-reset was done. I try to download since last friday.
-
@Mff73 Watch was well attached to the charger.
-
@Brad_Olwin Yes, firmware is up to date.
-
Next to connection to charger (also clean contacts) there could be a firewall etc. in place.
Can you try connecting to a different WiFi of best to a mobile hotspot? -
@Egika Quite difficult. Hotspot is nearly impossible since there is no good mobile network at my home. Are there any port or firewall-settings out there?
-
@Egika Found it out. In a widely used router in Germany child protection mode somehow restricts the watch connecting to the map server. If child protection is disabled for the watch download starts immediately.

@sebastiant said in Map downloads do not start:

Well, this is a good finding

@sebastiant How did you disable child protection?
