Mobile Tethering
-
Hello
Maybe it was written already somewhere else, in the depth of all the other themes.
Is it possible to use my own mobile as HotSpot for the SV, to download maps wherever I want? If yes how?
I am running an iPhone with latest versions of iOS and also SA.
Thank you
-
@Stoke80 yes.
Have done so already.
Just make sure your phones mobile hotspot is the to “maximize compatibility” -
@Egika Thank you. It is, but it’s not showing up in the SA?
-
Reboot of the iPhone did the trick. Thank you.
How is the detailed process of the map download?
I have chosen three regions now with a total of about 2.8 GB of Data…
All three regions show “Waiting for Download” in the SA and the Vertical watch (on charger) does show the normal main screen. -
@Stoke80 read manual or see Suunto App information on this. It tells you like everywhere in the app with static displays or pop-ups how it works.
-
@Egika I tried. But the respective link on the suunto homepage does not work:

@Egika
Thank you, but still doesn’t work (Error 404)…Anyway, I guess it would be the same as the info button on the SA, which shows some details about downloading maps (Connected to WiFi, choose Region, put watch on charger etc.) ?
-
@Stoke80 That is correct. I would download one map at a time on mobile hotspot. I have an iPhone 13Pro and successfully used for map downloads.

@Brad_Olwin Thank you. I didn’t manage to download maps over my mobile. But I must admit that I tried with three maps at once. Maybe that was the point.
I have the assumption, that SV lost the connection to the iPhone very quick again, after it was established (tethering symbol was shown quickly in the Dynamic Island).Anyway, the download of maps went smoothly at home over my WiFi there.
