Battery drain

@thanasis I also noticed that the battery consumption gets worseā¦ Iām at 33% after 13 daysā¦ and I didāt change anything
thatās a lot better than mine though! 67% drop in 13 days leads to 5.3% per day!!!
i am seeing like 15% per day!! -
@SuperFlo75 It seems to me that the drain accelerates as the battery decreases.
I have been holding goff on a hard/factory reset - but may be willing to try it if we donāt hear any more about a forthcoming updateā¦
-
I saw a new thread on this issue this morning, and now reading these posts. Iām a S9PP user and I noticed an uncommon battery drain in the past 2 days. I ended I run with 91% battery on Sunday morning, yesterday I did nothing so I didnāt even look at my battery charge status, this morning I woke up with 68% And itās at 66% now after 2 hours.
The only ānewā thing for me was update ZS app. -
hi, iām also experiencing battery issues on my 9PP. I never reached the 21 days of battery life with 24/7 monitoring as promised by suunto, but usually the battery lasted me 10-12 days with 3-5h of activity per week. Since the last update, however, I have to recharge the watch every 4-5 days with 1h of activity. I tried to open a specific thread for the 9 peak pro, since, even though they share some of the hardware, it is a different watch from the suunto vertical (it does not have maps, it does not have solar charging, it is smaller and will have a smaller battery, ā¦) but the thread was blocked as a duplicate of this one. mistakenly.
-
I really donāt know why this problem got worse nowā¦ for me it startet with the Summer Firmware Update and the new watchfaces choosable in the SAā¦ and I think with using the new ZoneSense App (including the use of the heart rate belt)ā¦ before the time of ZoneSense I didnāt use the belt very often with the Verticalā¦ perhaps I will delete ZoneSense before the next battery loading to learn more about the impact of ZoneSense on the battery drain?
-
@SuperFlo75 I always use the belt, which is essential for ZoneSense and should help the watch consume less battery. I consistently disable wrist HR, sleep tracking, and 24/7 HR. With this setup, my battery consumption is normal (1-2% per day without activity and 2-10% per activity depending on map usage). Whenever I adjust exercise options, I perform a soft reset on the watch after the activity. Without this reset, I notice a battery drain issue, which I hope will be addressed in the Q4 update that should logically be released by year-end, though I have no confirmed information about it. (Suunto Vertical and Suunto Smart HR belt)
-
I finally broke down and did a factory reset, reloaded everything and now will track battery usage againā¦ Only issue so far after my reset is the Zonesense - while it showed up in the watch and tracked the activity appropriately - I cannot get it to show up in SA for yesterdayās activity. Older activities it is showing up correctly.
-
@iterumtenta I have my SV since mai 2023, and I always used 24/7 HR and sleep trackingā¦ and I normally had no problems with wrist HR, so I didnāt use a HR belt. Usually I had to charge my watch every 4 weeks with about 3-4 hours activity per weekā¦ but today, Iām at 25% after 15 days š„²
-
@SuperFlo75 15 days? I bought mine in April 2024 and the battery life never exceeded more than 2 weeks. I go for short walks at lunch, 24/7 HR, sleep monitoring and occasional hikes. I lose about 8% a day. If i have to turn off the basic functions of the to use it, then the watch is useless for me.
Iāll be happy having 25% battery after 15 days.
-
@Outdoorsy this seems to be too much battery consumption? Far away from the promised power you can read on the Suunto website? š„²
-
@Outdoorsy 8% is pretty much what I get as well with everything on

Dev team is still working on battery drain issues or corrections have been found ?
8% per day seems to me already high. It was not the case when i bought the vertical i think 1,5 year ago -

And this is not normal compared to the first time of the Vertical.
Like @SuperFlo75 :
I have my SV since June 2023, and I always used 24/7 OHR and sleep tracking and I didnāt use a HR belt.
Usually I had to charge my watch every 4 weeks with about 3-4 hours activity per week.
That was pretty much what we can read on the official Suunto website at the launch.
Today can you get the 60 days , even without OHR and sleep tracking ? I am really not sure. There is a little battery drain since summer 2024.
-
@Kramble this thread is about battery drain and yes there are efforts to correct that.
60 days without ohr + BT + other tracking stuff is possible afaik and from my experiences this summer.
It even charges from the sun for me.
I think there is a mix of what we are discussing about here:
- Unusual battery drain
- Battery expectations with different combinations of settings
Afaik from fieldtesting on the next release there is no drain reported. However I cannot know if today you had the vibra motor buzzing > 300 times because of modern life notifications that also power up the watch and screen and if that reduced your estimate compared to 1.5y ago that you were getting 100 notifications . I hope you get my point
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
When can we approximately expect a new update? -
@vidmarr before xmas i hope

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos hi dimitrios, if I may, I, like I think the other users who write in this forum, are not inexperienced users, otherwise we would not be writing on this and other threads. Before writing here, I waited 2 months, I did 3 hard resets, I tried to change settings, I tried to contact (without success) the support and only at the end I looked for a thread that talked about battery problems related to the 9PP, which was not present, and I opened a new topic, which was blocked by your moderator Sartoric, to whom I wrote yesterday but who has not yet responded. Furthermore, I am a senior IT developer and obviously I sent the watch logs via app, so as to provide as much information as possible to my colleagues who work for Suunto.
Reading your observation on the number of notifications and vibration that an inexperienced user could have set, is particularly annoying because it seems like a joke.
For every user who writes in this forum about these problems, there are 5-10 others who do not write and who keep the problem without complaining. I think we need more respect. -
@t-Dox I hear you but also no need to create a new thread I think. We do have many battery drain topics atm so lets keep this here.

What do you mean with the above?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos hi, thanks for the reply. back to us, yes but this thread is about the suunto vertical. A user who accesses this forum, like me at the beginning, is led to think that it talks about battery problems only of the suunto vertical, which is not exact.
Regarding my sentence that you quoted, I think I was clear enough. I understand your observation, as I think everyone in this forum, we are not stupid. I repeat that before opening a thread, we did tests, we waited months, we changed the configurations and we also turned off the notifications probably! if we come to report a battery life problem, it is because after all these tests, we have found that the problem is there. otherwise we would not be here wasting time writing in this forum. I have recommended my watch (9PP) to several friends, I have talked to them and they all have the same problem with the battery but I am the only one who wants to get informed and write about these problems on the internet. Those writing here are just a small (perhaps nerdier) portion of your customers.

I understand your point, but believe me itās not an expectation but a real change after the summer update nothing to do with my notifications which didnāt increase suddenly in July 2024.
My guess of simple user is that the new watchface manager created a little battery drain which is noticeable on long term by users like me and @SuperFlo75 with the same habit of use every month.
Hope Suunto and you could fix it.By the way , nice for the 60 days.
