Battery drain

- Always on display + hold upper button to do "“not disturb mode” when i go sleep (that also turn off AoD) when I go sleep. so like 16h/7days got always on display. (LOW BRIGHNESS)
- 3-5 training per week (no maps so far becouse of weather on my country)
- Solar version, but again becouse of my country I didnt even used solar posibillity of watch, got it since early winter. Soon solar gonna make his work
- All sleep tracking, h24 enabled. Just all.
My battery lasts 16-17 days. I think in spring/summer it will hold easily 20+ days. Iam very happy with that if watch hold more than 1 or 1,5 week.

@babychai Same here!
First charge after 22 days of GPS activities 🤯
Battery 0-99% never reach 100% even one hour later.
But i think it’s calibration… the watch maybe after a few charge cycles will calibrate itself and reach 100% -
@gerasimos I charged my Verical few times, it was mostly 99% but I think 1 maybe two times it reach 100%:D
-
@Tami999 @gerasimos i think to reach 100% are quite random sometimes. 2 days ago i able to charge from 5% to 100%. but total i charge for almost 4 hours because i forgot to unplug the charger while i doing my other works
-
I’m able to get to 100% when I charge my SV, but it does sometimes take a while to roll over from 99%

Same for me. I’m not sure it really matters to be fair, 99% or 100% really doesn’t make much difference.

I have a vertical solar. I am loosing 10% a day not bad, but not great.
I have changed the parameters to optimized: backlight to low, no rise to wake, etc.
I think the consumption during an activity is just great, even in performance mode.with GPS. What i am desappoint about is when not on activity (watch mode) Is the H24 monitoring Heart rate is the culprit?
today, i have to charge my watch every 10 days. again, this is not bad, but this is the vertical solar we are talking about.do I have an issue with battery draining? is the battery Ok? should I contact suunto support?
-
@Antoine-Lancrenon I have comment about battery drain above and get somewhere in the 10-14 day range for a charge. I also suspect that 24/7 HR is where it is draining. Activity usage tends to track with Suunto’s official numbers but daily use is where it falls short.
I would say what you are seeing is also seen with people that run the 24/7 heart rate or with people that use the S+ guides which is another area that tends to drain quicker.
I think it is recognized and will be addressed in future updates.
-
@Todd-Danielczyk I have H24 HR tracking ON + sleep tracking and HRV ON.
Standby off
Backlight low, raise to wake low.
No extra battery drain noticed. It’s still like it was a the beginning => around 5% max / day when not exercising. -
@Tieutieu that is curious. There are a few of us that noticed the higher consumption (drain) after the last firmware update and some that do not.
(settings are listed as https://forum.suunto.com/post/139007)
With mine, consumption went up (8-10%/day) and through the discussion it seemed like a few people on the forum decided to turn off 24/7 HR and limit the S+ guides to extend the life of the battery. I did the drain/full charge to recalibrate the battery but it has consistently given me a higher drain and I figured i would wait until the next firmware update to test it out again.
-
@Todd-Danielczyk I am not getting higher drain on production firmware.
-
@Brad_Olwin thank you for the confirmation.
I know you put yours through its paces and use GPS/HR etc. as well. It seemed like there was some chatter on the 9 Peak Pro after the last firmware and then a handful of Vertical owners saw a higher battery drain. Chalked or up to Vertical owners having more milliamp batteries so didn’t hit us as soon.
As I said, it’s not a deal breaker for me as mine goes for roughly 2 weeks before needing to be charged but prior to the latest firmware I know it would be 3+ weeks. I’ll monitor it after the next update to see if it improves, holds the same or degrades.
-
@Todd-Danielczyk Make sure standby is off and that you have not changed backlight intensity. This will definitely change battery life,
-
@Brad_Olwin ah, thank you! I had standby off but brightness at medium. I’ll give that a try.
-
@Todd-Danielczyk I have brigtness medium, standby off and raise to wake low. Check to make sure in Control Panel that backlight is off.

I set mine to brightness low. Standby off, raise to wake high, and backlight off and gave it a full day to check. Wearing just as 24/7 but no recorded activity.
Usage 4%.
The only thing I changed is from brightness medium to low. So my wake time is higher than yours (screen is active more) but uses less nit/brightness than yours. Seems either set up will consume lower battery.
Brad, I appreciate you taking the time to go through your settings and confirming.

I set my SV to brightness low, Standby off, raise to wake low, and backlight off. Wearing it with 24/7 HR monitoring, and sleep tracking, I have a consumption of about 3% a day without recorded activities. In my opinion, that‘s great.
In the last weeks, after the last maps update, I noticed a increased consumption, but now after a soft reset, it’s as usual again. I talked about it in another thread… -
The only thing I had different is:
backlight: off
brightness: medium (i have lowered it to low now yo see the impact)
standby: off
raise to wake: off
hr24 and sleep tracking : on (i need those one, i dont want to inactive it to gain battery, not worth it)i will give you some update abouy drainage, may be the brightness from medium to low will reduce the consumption… what do you think?
-
@Antoine-Lancrenon I can say I had brightness at Medium and Raise to Wake high, Standby off, Backlight off. With this I was seeing about a 10% daily battery consumption.
By switching to brightness at Low and Rase to Wake high, Standby off, Backlight off I saw 4% daily battery consumption. All other settings (24/7 HR, SPOx, notifications etc.) were left in the same condition as before and in the on state.
May be worthwhile to change your settings to see if it shows any difference. For me, the Brightness played a factor in battery consumption. Depending on what I plan on doing I may switch back and forth on Brightness but at least I can trace it to having an effect on the rate I need to charge.
