sport modes & last used GPS mode
-
@pend1 You can replicate the endurance settings in the Custom mode. The watch will prefer custom above a predefined mode
-
@surfboomerang thx! that’s a clever workaround
-
@pend1 I will have another question here. Why use Endurance mode? the battery will last 60h. On specific hikes where you will be out for a long time you can set up a custom sport mode that will use Endurance. In addition, you can switch on the fly as well as at the start. Just curious as your tracks will be better on Performance mode.
-
@Brad_Olwin There’s a bug I believe as the watch will default to custom mode for custom specific activities.
-
@lessthanmore That’s not my experience. It only defaults to Custom if it is different than the Performace mode (GPS: best, touch:map only, display timeout: off)
-
@surfboomerang I just created a new custom activity based on ‘running’.
When starting the activity the battery mode defaults to custom while the standard running activity defaults to performance.
This was already mentioned by others in a different thread.
IOS, if that matters. -
@lessthanmore Just triend again to test it. I always used a custom Running profile.
When I selected it, it was showing Custom battery mode. Changed the settings as mentioned above and selected the custom battery profile.
Went back to the watch menu and from there selected my running activity again. Now it defaults to Performace.AFAIK this is not phone dependent.

@surfboomerang Yes, you’re right. I can confirm that, thank you!
-
@Brad_Olwin thanks for the tip! that’s really helpful.
why endurance? i’m nit living in gps-difficult-condituons. the single band option (endurance) already produces a near perfect track. I’m impressed to be honest.
All i want is that the settings stay the same every time i start an activity. nevertheless, i will try try your additional sport mode approach as well as the custom gps mode trick.
