solar charging
-
@Mff73 I haven’t really tried yet that but I’m really skeptical about that…
I’m wondering how and when it stopped working.
Battery life of the SV is so huge and we had so few sun past months that I never had questionned the solar charging ! -
I would be skeptical as well, but it doesn’t cost any buck to try .
I don’t have solar here (nor so much sun ) so I am not used to such behaviours to help more. Just reading some not so silly tricks here and there . -
I finally decided to try a hard reset…unfortunatly solar charging isn’t working after…
No other choice than sending my watch for support…
And I was almost ready to order a Race S this morning has 2nd watch…but it’s already out of stock…
So I will have to wait till end of summer to send my SV for repairing… -
@Tieutieu Pity But all the best and enjoy the summer.
-
@EzioAuditore Battery life of the SV is still so huge that I should not feel limited. But I’m sad that solar charging seems to be broken for good…also because I didn’t did anything special to my watch (except lot of training !)
-
Hi, I sent the vertical solar for service because the solar charging panel was gone! One week and it was returned fully functional (not all the circles were filled). Now problems again, anyone noticed any bugs in the watch face regarding solar charging indicator? It looks like the solar charging indicator is malfunctioning! Does it happen to you too? I would like to have feedback to rule out a malfunction of the solar panel (it was replaced a month ago).
-
@riccardo88ve Maybe too much sun/heat ‘unglues’ the connector? I cannot comment on this I am not in very sunny country now. Will go to Greece in couple of days and will see.
-
Well, my SV goes next monday for repair in the CZ repair center. I hope they will solve issue (anyone experimented this CZ repair center VS finland?)
(I finally ordered a SRs that will arrive tomorrow, so I won’t be naked !) -
I am experiencing the same issue. Have noticed the solar energy real time widget does not respond, and the collected charge over time bar graph is close to empty.
Tried soft reset, factory reset and full charge cycle.
Nothing has fixed it. Happened from one day to another just over a week or two ago. Have contacted support and they want to see the watch. But I am stuck woth a schedule full of races and events and don’t want to send it in right now… hopefully it’s a FW issue which can be resolved in the next update… but I have my doubts. Let’s see what happens, it’s not a deal breaker as much as it is a little annoying and dissapointing.

I used mine for a 5d fast pack at the end of July and solar worked well, I am on FT firmware but have never had this issue. I am concerned it is hardware, I would contact support or fill out a warranty ticket online and send the watch in.
-
@Brad_Olwin - I am pretty confident it is a HW issue aswell. Am considering the suunto race s to get me bye in the meantime… I am in italy and there is no support here… I have to do the online repair request. I guess it will be a few weeks before I have it back. Considering a week just shipping forward and back and then someone on the other end to recieve it and look at it. A few weeks for sure.
-
@SvenSchroeter I am in the US and had to send in a 9PP, had it back in 1.5 weeks and went to Finland and back. Hopefully yours will be quicker than two weeks. The RaceS is a great second watch, in fact I wear my RaceS most of the time (easy to sleep with) and use the Vertical when I want the bigger screen and longer battery life.

@SvenSchroeter
Shipping is really fast, usually, like a couple of days.I’ve noticed that the “weekly” bars widget, with the production FW, seem to refresh only after a restart. They normally are stuck to the min value while the complication works correctly
-
@sartoric instead I notice the weekly bars are at a minimum value (barely registering) and the hourly one the same… but the complication is not registering anything, and the hourly bars are not incriminating past the minimum. Been like that for a while for me now. Somehow and somewhere it’s getting stuck. In HW or FW. lucky me

Hi,
I’m connecting to the thread of solar charging but with slightly different issue. I have Vertical for several months and I’ve noticed that when charging, i.e. the whole day (meaning the bars are full for most of the time, morning till late afternoon), I’ve noticed that battery % might go a little up, by 1-2%. Or when doing some activities, it drops by smaller amount than usual. And that seems ok to me.
But the real issue comes later - the watch suddenly reports battery % dropping over the next hours, by several %. It seems very odd, like the power measurement is providing false measures. I can’t tell if in the end the whole battery life remains the same. In a very short period of time the battery can drop by even more than 10%.Has anyone noticed similar issue?
-
@Wojciech-Łużniak
you’re probably experiencing battery drain -
@sartoric
Thanks for reply but I doubt that’s the case. I’ve read mentioned thread before - my settings are as suggested, did my battery calibration just 2 weeks ago and in general the battery life is fine.
Only when solar charging gets involved, suddenly I start setting significant drops in battery %.
In example today I spent most of the day outdoors, used the watch for swimming that lasted 20 mins max and day was really sunny. My watch started the day with 49% and swimming took 1, maybe 2%. For the rest of the day the battery was dropping down quickly and currently is at 41%. It seemed like the quickest drops were when watch was only partially charging those charges were interrupted. -
That’s exactly what happens with battery drain. It’s not solar, it’s very probably due to GPS, or maybe solar but causes are not 100% identified
Did you soft reset the watch before ? -

Did you soft reset the watch before ?In the end, I get it . you’re correct. The drain continued today, without any particular reason.
I’ve connected watch to charger and for the last 10 mins it remains at 30%.
I did the soft reset in the past, also when calibrating the battery.
Thanks guys for help, I’ll wait for the fix
