@twekkel I agree
-
@surfboomerang no that sounds like some render issue.
-
@surfboomerang lets wait for the hotfix but you can try to redownload

Somewhat similar issue here. Map from a region in The Netherlands seems to work OK, but today I noticed a square black grid spot (approx 1 km²) in it where there was no map. Once I zoomed out to 500m it showed me the map in that part. When I zoom in it disappeared again.
Re-download the map for this case also?
Same there , my Paris map is partially missing
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Is a re-download also necessary after the hotfix? In that case I will wait patiently until the fix has been released.
-
@zhang965 some coordinates ?

And I saw another issue about the route…
The route became alive, it’s became a triangle and move to different direction
-
@zhang965 yes, looks like the same issue. Does the missing piece appear if you zoom out to 500m?
-
@twekkel I agree. Today, went on a 2 hour hike , we grabbed some lunch and wanted to explore the map on my watch. But the screen stayed black (just like this morning after installing it) because I didn’t have a fix inside. This is poor user experience. It could easily use last known location and still search in the background while letting me pan around on the pretty map.
-
@seanvk The last location is not a good idea IMHO, I often run 20k to 50k from home and that would be a problem for me. I can imagine many other scenarios as well. I personally have not had any map issues in over a month in 3 different US states. I think at this time the map issues are infrequent based on the information I have.
-
@Brad_Olwin Understand. I’m just used to that from other devices. It’s a bit surprising for me. I’ll agree that last known location can rapidly lose relevancy over time and distance.
-
@seanvk The map problem I hope is very limited. Suunto will get this taken care of quickly.
-
At first, I hadn’t any map issue. First activity OK. And during a test, bam no map despite a GPS fix. Soft reset make it back.
About GPS fix needed. I would also vote for being able to see the map, either with latest known GPS postion, or even being able to focus on a POI. Select a POI on the watch, you have a map around it : you can explore the map around.
Last point, navigating to a POI doesn’t show any direction on the map screen?? Need to switch from MAP to compass view. While just a little blue arrow on the map would be good.

+1

@surfboomerang
Idea can be extended to routes as well : select a route, no GPS fix or far from this route, then being able to explore the map around that route . -
@Mff73 Yes, it would be great! I’m a bit disappointed that i can’t see the map without a GPS fix.
