speculations and rumours about upcoming Suunto watches
-
@Ultrawalker The Highendmodel will be the Vertical Peak Pro
-
@DMytro I think the 48.8 is the bezel size and if I am not mistaken the 50 mm of S9Baro is a bit beyond the bezel so I expect same size as the S9Baro.
-
@StefanoMorgan Once released and naming is confirmed I would love some explanation behind the naming strategy by some Suunto affiliates (if any)
-
@Hristijan-Petreski maybe, I donāt know if e.g. buttons are included in measurement. But in principle I wouldnāt mind retaining the screen size while shirking the overall watch profile.

@Ultrawalker Iād bet on high end model.
Wouldnāt bet the same ; high model will have maps for sure, and the packaging leaks donāt show mapsā¦
(One of my other expectation is that the strap will be 24mm)I hope Iām wrong and youāre rightā¦because if Iām right, that means Iāll have to wait more to change my S9B !!
-
@Tieutieu Maybe the new chip will be able to handle the computing power needed so it will come in future upgrade (3.x.x) and the older watches will stay in 2.x.x.
Or maybe the packaging is not final and these are devices sent to test, review, etcā¦
But based on previous timing we will soon know it all in 10-14 days hopefully. May the 4th is nice date -
@Tieutieu weāll see soon enough. I actually hope theyāll retain 22mm, since itās much more popular strap width.

Garmin and Coros watches with maps also donāt show maps on the box. So lack of that doesnāt indicate anything if you ask me.

Based on the image Iāve seen I suspect it will have a 22mm strap.

Right! The package is ācleanā and no other functions are named. So everything is possibleā¦
I expect a high end model.

Fair enough ! But my packaging reference was the suuntoās only watch with maps so far AKA S7, which shows maps

what will I do with my whole collection of 24mm strap I use with my S9B !!

Well, S7 packaging was showing heat maps as the watch face. Not quite the same as showing off in-training map capability.
-
@DMytro Also very fair enought !! Canāt wait anymore !! Please Suunto release our pain !!
-
@Tieutieu the new model (Vertical) will have maps. Itās all in the documents on this forum. From the leaked photos the strap seems 22mm. Some other tidbits are also available, if you look for them
-
Thanks all for building this topic, iām still happy with my Ambit3 vertical, and more a small watch guy, but this topic makes me really happy anyway. I look forward to all the reviews!
-
The original Ambit3 Vertical introduced hardware changes (new GPS sensor, no antenna bump, vibration alerts), but the software was very similar to the existing Ambit3 watches. I can only speculate that this could be the case now as well. Does this mean no maps? Letās wait and seeā¦
On a side note, S9PP already introduced significant hardware and software changes, so hopefully, maps will be available in the new watch. This (other than the size) could be the major differentiator between the two watches. -
Anyone?
-
-
@freeheeler Good one
-
No one seems to talk about battery life of new watch. Hopefully battery lasts atleast as long as in S9PP. Better resolution screen and maps would be awesome. Is there new HR sensor? How about barometer? Is it similar to S9PP? So many questions and no answers, yet.
Also Iām waiting if there is something intresting coming to S9PP with FW update. After all it has new UI.
-
@Jugger Given that the new watch will be larger than S9PP, it does make sense that the battery life is going to be equal or better. On the other hand, the original Ambit3 Vertical had shorter battery life compared to Ambit3 Peakā¦ So thereās that
