Alternative sleep tracking methods
-
Hi.
Apologies if this has been covered else where (I thought it would have been but failed to find anything).
I was wondering if there are any alternatives to track sleep without having the watch on? Heart rate monitor strap? I’m not really fussed about other metrics - the accelerometer was not particularly accurate when I did sleep with the watch on as it missed times where I knew I had woken up and left the bed, in some instances.
I’m after something that would work with Suunto.

have you heard of the famous Oura ring?
-
@Egika said in Alternative sleep tracking methods:
famour Oura ring
To clarify I would prefer to have something which works within the Suunto environment.
-
@ADHDMonkey sorry, did not read that addition.
I am not aware of any 3rd party sleep tracking device that would sync directly into Suunto’s ecosystem -
@Egika I edited my post to clarify after you’d answered already
-
@ADHDMonkey I know that some people start an indoor activity and record the HR with a chest strap, without wearing the watch at night.
-
@isazi that would give you HR, but not track your 2mins pee time at night…
That said - if I know I have been up a couple of times to take care of my baby, why would I need my watch to tell me this information?
-
@Egika it should know when you was waken up at night just to be able compare ti es day to day how much sleep you had. My S5 sometimes don’t notice when i wake up at night and going to toilete, sometimes it notice well. But main think i would like to have is some possibility to tell watch at morning that i am awake. For example if i want to stay in bed for a while. Not i have to start excercise and cancel it imediately which is not user friendly but it works.

@Egika to be fair I’ve been up, down stairs and back and the watch didn’t catch it. I’m more interested in the hr than anything else.

@ADHDMonkey If you extend “Suunto environment” a little bit, you may consider intervals.icu, which can read data from Suunto and e.g. Oura and give you a combination of the metrics of both, making it a very nice “training hub”
