Watch barely usable
-
Hi,
I bought this a watch some month ago. Unfortunately, every time I want to check the time - it shows my pulsen or other readings, which us extremely irritating.
I know this is an existens issue.
Did the developers give any adequate reason for why there is no possibility to lock the buttons?
Or is it just to sell my suunto? -
@Viacheslav-Myronov
barely usable might be an unlucky title for a watch that’s missing a useful feature but the rest is working wellI’m asking for a lock function for more than 3 years now.
I don’t expect that it is ever coming.
The new watches with smaller click buttons are much less prone to unintended button press -
This is a lock button request post.
The lock button is in the forum, to avoid duplicates I’m closing this later today.

@freeheeler yeah, agree the title is not the most correct. I was just so frustrated this morning, every time I tried to check time, it showed something else instead of showing time. I mean it is such a basic feature that was present before and now they cannot implement it. I just cannot understand why it is absent in first place?
I guess the watch will just head straight to tori.fi (Finlands craigslist). -
@Bulkan can you merge my post with the existing one?

my son said the same thing to me when I asked why he took out his fitbit again and doesn’t use his S3 anymore. he changed settings without intention. but I think it is what it is and will not be changed. -
@Viacheslav-Myronov have you tried to temporarily resolve the issue by altering watch positioning? Meaning slightly higher above the bone on your wrist? I agree that the buttons are soft and prone to presses, but I bike with mine frequently and have not ran into this issue although the watch spends a lot of time on a bent wrist in a hand shaking on gravel roads.

@Bj-Fi actually, when doing sports, I dont have that type of problem. It is mostly when I am at work and wear some shirt that watch is pressed towards my hand and buttons are pressed accidentaly. I work as a teacher and need to check time many times during the day - very frustrating to see my pulse or some settings instead of the actual time.

I don’t know details, but to avoid any illusion: I remember I started asking for lock buttons in watch mode late 2019…
there was no lock implemented ever since. when the S9P was released, with the improved buttons, smaller watch body and smaller buttons, the urgent need for a lock was removed. only very unlucky movements cause unwanted button press.when would a lock be useful? e.g. when you stop an activity and you’re still in the water, shower, it’s raining etc… to avoid the watch getting a mad cow disease… but it seems a rare case and low to no priority
…but I know how you feel! my watch made it to DND on/off and other features including going to start activity screen etc … it’s a pain, but I got used to it
