@Egika @isazi thanks for the explanation. @Brad_Olwin message was really frightening and the reason why I said that it shluld be specifically warned. It is now clear.

@Werner-Wilfried-Wasicsek it seems to have been removed, as the information can be accessed with the new widgets, I guess

Just out of curiosity: Is FusedTrack still there or was it removed as there’s now 1s fix for endurance mode?

Another upgrade from S9P to S9PP is conection stability and notification response speed. On S9P mobile notifications lagged (from few to 10s at one point). On S9PP notifications are instant, no lag or anything. Not sure if there were some upgrades to BT connection and similar

I just received my Suunto 9 Peak Pro 🙂
I’m missing the outdoor watch face, is it not available for this watch or did I miss something?

                Thanks

A pity as it is my favourite and got to watch face for … ever … and as the selection of attractive watch faces for everyday use is rather slim in my opinion, I hope that the outdoor watch face will at least be kept in the S9, even after the/an update 🤞

@Shrek3k Apparently there were issues with that watchface on the 9PP in testing.

@Shrek3k no watch faces are removed from previous watches, just developers could not focus on make all old watch faces available for the new hardware. But you have widgets now, that have more information than before. The outdoor widget is a good substitute of the outdoor watchface.

@dulko79 can’t say now for S9PP. It worked for me first on S9B. Then it did not work anymore on S9P. But I read, there will be a general resources update.

@Dušan-Ković I said there is no risk because the watch will tell you that it cannot charge with the old cable. Suunto put in place this software measure to avoid people using the old cable, so people will not use the old cable (because it cannot charge your new watch) and there will be no harm.

And this is what I said as well but not as clear. The charger will warn you so the watch is not affected.

My first test today with the S9PP was a 7 hour hike. The battery consumption was 13% for comparison I had the Fenix 7x with me in multiband mode. With the Fenix it was 30% battery consumption. Will test that in the same mode. From the GPS accuracy goods on about 22km 700m difference. But I will do test runs on measured routes in the next few days.

@mountainChris I can’t say which watch is closer to reality, but in my last test runs with the Fenix on measured routes, Garmin always measured between 1% and 3% too much. So I assume that Suunto is not so bad here. 😀

Interesting. I run with a few different guys who all wear Garmin’s of various description, elevation is usually slightly under theirs with my S9B but my distance always comes out a little more. Over the course of a 20km run I’m usually around 300-500m ahead of them, but I’ve never really known whose readings are closer to the real distance. Anyhow, I always end up with the faster average pace 😊

I’m following this thread as I may well end up getting an S9PP next year, I have spinal surgery start of December so a new watch could be a good motivator to get me back out and onto the trails. Plus I’m thinking many of these minor ‘bugs’ will likely be ironed out by then

my personal impression is, for my wrist it is a tiiiny bit too small… but bear in mind, I’m big… not tall but big 😉
                                      if I was a “normal” athlete, I think I wouldn’t even notice.

…I saw a documentary about Kilian this week… this boy has arms… A3P appeared like a 80mm watch if I would compare to my arms 😂

Question, I’ve configured power zones in the watch but still not seeing power zones as an option in the intensity zones before a workout, only heart rate and pace, checked for sport mode running and running power and no difference, any issues or am I missing something?

EDIT: after pairing STRYD I see the option in intensity zones, wondering if you need to pair a external power pod device to use power in the intensity zones? Is this supposed to be available for S9PP wrist-based power?

When I had Garmins (early 2021 and prior) before switching to the S9B, this was my experience too. Garmins showed more elevation and less mileage than what other watches showed, but for me, that always translated into positive surprises come race day when I finished courses quicker than expected because of the distance undercounting 😆

More recently, my best example of measurements is an 8.4-mile bike-odometer-measured trail race I did this past March. It’s a very winding course, and the race director said under normal conditions, watches will show about 0.1 miles less each mile. We didn’t have “normal” that day – we had blowing snow and heavily clouded skies.

                                            • My wife’s Coros showed 7.62 miles
                                            • My 9 Baro showed 7.60 miles
                                            • A Coros friend showed 7.53 miles
                                            • Every Garmin watch I saw showed between 7.00 and 7.20 miles.

I feel comfortable telling people that Garmin wearables released prior to 2022 tend to undercount distances more than most others.
