Suunto 9 Peak Pro?

@isazi
thank you, thatās a very helpful information for all
and it obsoletes my comment as Suunto solved and prevents the potential risk of damaging the watch with an old cable by software ā¦seeā¦ thatās the difference between IT and mechanical engineerspulling an āoldā cable from the market doesnāt make sense to me and might not even be allowed from sparepart availability regulations.
plus: it doesnāt solve the problem (which isnāt actually a problem, as we learned!) of people having both watches and both cables.good to know thatās all good
enjoy all your nice new toys out there! weekend is coming -
I just received my Suunto 9 Peak Pro
Iām missing the outdoor watch face, is it not available for this watch or did I miss something?Thanks
-
@Egika @isazi thanks for the explanation. @Brad_Olwin message was really frightening and the reason why I said that it shluld be specifically warned. It is now clear.
-
@Werner-Wilfried-Wasicsek it seems to have been removed, as the information can be accessed with the new widgets, I guess
-
Just out of curiosity: Is FusedTrack still there or was it removed as thereās now 1s fix for endurance mode?
-
@Åukasz-Szmigiel official answer is that it has been removed.
-
Another upgrade from S9P to S9PP is conection stability and notification response speed. On S9P mobile notifications lagged (from few to 10s at one point). On S9PP notifications are instant, no lag or anything. Not sure if there were some upgrades to BT connection and similar

A pity as it is my favourite and got to watch face for ā¦ ever ā¦ and as the selection of attractive watch faces for everyday use is rather slim in my opinion, I hope that the outdoor watch face will at least be kept in the S9, even after the/an update
-
@Shrek3k Apparently there were issues with that watchface on the 9PP in testing.
-
@Shrek3k no watch faces are removed from previous watches, just developers could not focus on make all old watch faces available for the new hardware. But you have widgets now, that have more information than before. The outdoor widget is a good substitute of the outdoor watchface.
-
@dulko79 canāt say now for S9PP. It worked for me first on S9B. Then it did not work anymore on S9P. But I read, there will be a general resources update.

@DuÅ”an-KoviÄ I said there is no risk because the watch will tell you that it cannot charge with the old cable. Suunto put in place this software measure to avoid people using the old cable, so people will not use the old cable (because it cannot charge your new watch) and there will be no harm.
And this is what I said as well but not as clear. The charger will warn you so the watch is not affected.

My first test today with the S9PP was a 7 hour hike. The battery consumption was 13% for comparison I had the Fenix āā7x with me in multiband mode. With the Fenix āāit was 30% battery consumption. Will test that in the same mode. From the GPS accuracy goods on about 22km 700m difference. But I will do test runs on measured routes in the next few days.
-
@Kurt68 700m is much for me. Probably Suunto got rightā¦
-
@mountainChris I canāt say which watch is closer to reality, but in my last test runs with the Fenix āāon measured routes, Garmin always measured between 1% and 3% too much. So I assume that Suunto is not so bad here.

Interesting. I run with a few different guys who all wear Garminās of various description, elevation is usually slightly under theirs with my S9B but my distance always comes out a little more. Over the course of a 20km run Iām usually around 300-500m ahead of them, but Iāve never really known whose readings are closer to the real distance. Anyhow, I always end up with the faster average pace
Iām following this thread as I may well end up getting an S9PP next year, I have spinal surgery start of December so a new watch could be a good motivator to get me back out and onto the trails. Plus Iām thinking many of these minor ābugsā will likely be ironed out by then

@MiniForklift
and the readability is very good, I didnāt expect that
ā¦elbow surgery made me buy S9B hence I understand your motivation (even at a different levelā¦) to buy S9PP and I would do the same -

@MiniForklift
my personal impression is, for my wrist it is a tiiiny bit too smallā¦ but bear in mind, Iām bigā¦ not tall but big
if I was a ānormalā athlete, I think I wouldnāt even notice.ā¦I saw a documentary about Kilian this weekā¦ this boy has armsā¦ A3P appeared like a 80mm watch if I would compare to my arms
