Suunto 9 Peak Pro?
-
Is it just me or vibration sound in s9pp is realy loud but not much stronger? It is really annoying how it sounds. Like watch will fall apart after vibration sound. Maybe my unit is lemon?
-
@krakra
my wife’s comment was pretty similar to yours.
she’s used to S7 vibration. -
@krakra The vibration on the Pro is more substantial. Something I appreciated, I rarely miss feeling it when working out!
-
Just got mine. First impressions:
- Ui faster, but still lagging on moments
- Charging cable is really cheap compared to the cable that comes with S9P or S9B. Magnets on it are really weak.
- vibrations are stronger
- display colors are same or indistinguishable difference
- raise to backlight is better
- customising sport modes for third time is terrible
- new Ui is ok in terms of design, still getting used to it
- SpO2 sensor FINALLY showed at least approximate result (96%), on S9P I eas constantly getting 82-86%.
- I turned off media controls in settings but widget still shows - bug maybe?
- suunto REALLY needs to work on synchronization between app and watch. We really need ability to change all settings on the watch and customize everything from the app. And store all settings in cloud. This is my 4th suunto watch (s3f (sold almost immediately), s9b, s9p,s9pp) and I have to setup everything from scratch every time
More to come

@Dušan-Ković That’s annoying to hear. I know I had an anoying bug of persistent wrist HR in running mode and would have to disable it each time I went for a run. Not sure why the sport mode just could not remember a simple setting but reverted to default. Same goes for Feeling: dispite disabling, it kept asking. All this on the S9BT.
-
@altcmd I believe wrist HR toggling is now remembered, same for feelings.

There is now a widget menu in App, you can choose which widgets to turn on and off. I had to turn off media controls there. There are two settings on on the watch to turn off media controls during activity, and one in the app to turn off media controls widget in watch mode in the app

Updates to the UI are coming with the next update.

There is a reason for that, electronics and strong magnets don’t play well with each other

For now the media controls have different, maybe redundant, ways to work. You can even disable or enable them only during activity. The widget you need to disable it from the app (widgets are not controlled on the watch).
-
@isazi I really liked strong magnets, I could “glue” charging cable to my PC case and it did not moved. Just put watch on it and it stayed in place.
Widget menu in app is awesome! I can finally turn off stuff that I don’t need. Good job suunto! I wish all watch settings are changed from the app like widgets
Next update comes when?
I got an update as soon as I turned on the watch

@Dušan-Ković I am very interested in readability. Did you notice it better than in S9P? I am wondering to sell mine and buy an S9PP but only if it is noticeable better. Faster UI or other things are less relevant for me.
Thanks,
J -
@Efejota I did not do any training, I will probably go for a run in the morning, so I’ll check readability tomorrow.
-
I’ve set Dark Mode on the watch but notifications have white background with black letters. Is this on purpose to improve readability of notifications?
-
As a long time A3P user, really happy today and really surprised with how much smaller this is. It works really well with my thinner wrists.
I’ll post more detailed thoughts about it and how it compares to my lifestyle with the A3P.
Great work, Suunto! :)!

Thanks,
JDid an activity today, and readability is very good with new font like a bold one.

@Dušan-Ković The strong magnet charger for the S9Peak can brick the 9Pro so don’t use it. The 9Pro won’t accept charging from that adaptor for the reasons @isazi described.

I like the slate very much. What a look!
Build quality superior. For me also better than S9P.
Glass perfectly set inside.
Charging pins on back better, litte bit deeper.
Top of housing (matte finish) looks way better than on S9P Ti.
Like the single piece back.
Very good job. Sports to be done on weekend. But I have to say vibration sound far from premium.
I tested a 945LTE this summer, which also has a very substantial vibration but not the accoustic buzz. Please SUUNTO do vibration profiles (low, mid, strong or just low, strong), choosable for activity and non-activity. It is too much when sitting on the couch or working or being in a meeting. I remember on S9P there were SW versions which had lower and stronger profiles. This should be choosable by user because of snare and buzz imo…
-
@Brad_Olwin I did not plan to use the S9P charger with S9PP. But that should be written in huge letters on the box

The Pro won’t work with the Peak charger and that should be enough to protect it. During early testing we had a charger with no magnets at all! I found it particularly frustrating to get the watch to charge.

@Brad_Olwin
And what about spare charger which is announced to be compatible for both models?

feel the same. See comment above. Hope Suunto will do something. Very good watch, gorgeous look and build quality! But this vibration snare I really do not like. Sounds cheep and annoys. Also people around. Strong vibrations should not buzz and snare in a 629€ watch. When it does, Suunto should do vibration profiles (low, mid, high or just low, high), choosable in activity and non-activity mode. Cannot be that nobody at Suunto thinks this way and did not recognize this.
