Suunto 9 Peak Pro?

@isazi But I have a marathon this weekend… How the hell am I going to run it without the new FW for my S9P.

Faster! Old software is lighter
-
For those wondering about the battery modes.
-
@Ketoohs New FW before important start, almost like a new trainers… Sound a bit risky
-
@Kosta
only if it isn’t tested well enough -
Note: “Good” GPS accuracy/Endurance mode use a power saving 1-second GPS fix setting. This means that you can still use the watch’s navigation features on these settings.
This is pretty neat!
-
@isazi Reminds me previous naming convention like Suunto Spartan Sport (SSS), Suunto Spartan Sport Wrist HR (SSSWHR)…
Seems like Suunto is iterating back to naming where abbreviation is as long as name itself, if not longer…

I wonder if it has a ‘Remember to lube your nipples’ prompt on it for when you are racing marathon’s

Let’s see if S9PP starts shipping before the release date as it happened with S9P

of course they do, you can find there are lots of review under S9PP already:
-
@zhang965
these are from field testers… and one (saw it by coincidence) from an unhappy S9P user -
@freeheeler WTF, you and write one review without actually buying one?
-
@zhang965
they declare themselves as testers, I don’t see anything wrong with it.
it’s reviews that helps potential buyers who do not read forums and don’t watch youtube channels to decide before shipment starts… only the unhappy S9P user, I don’t understand! -
I pre-ordered the S9PP and I am excited to see the improvements over the S9P. I am encouraged by Suunto’s progress and development. I somewhat wish the S9PP would ship with a velcro band as, to me, this is an ideal combination. Nevertheless, I am excited for the new user interface, processor, and updated GPS chip. Also, I am optimistic that Suunto will continue to build it’s third party partnerships and this will create a level of customization currently not offered in the wearable tech market.

These work well and not expensive!

Many of us wish, I think it’s a request that most of the external field testing team expressed.

Does anyone know if the new watch supports SmO2 (Moxy)? DC Rainmaker mentions the ability to pair with “non-standard devices” but I cannot tell if this functionality would allow for such a pairing or would but only via the app (to integrate data with data from the watch). Thanks!
-
@fazel third-party companies can write S+ apps to connect with sensors and do stuff. I do not know moxy, but you can probably contact them and ask if they plan to support Suunto this way.
-
One would think that compatibility with something like a Moxy is somehow integrated or planned: https://media.dcrainmaker.com/images/2022/10/SuuntoFitSensorDetails.png

@Matthew-Robertson I hesitatingly/excitingly did the pre-order as well, but I have been a SUUNTO owner since the 90’s (Vector/Observer/X-Lander/X6HR/X9/X10/T6’s/CORE/Ambits/Spartan) so really hoping this is a keeper. Ive actually just put a new battery in my Observer to wear until the new S9PP arrives and everything is still working! I had the S9P for only a few months this past summer and mine kept re-setting itself (would turn itself off/on randomly and soft reset) - Suunto support said return it. All the things I thought they could improve are checked with the new Pro version (readability/speed/battery life/HR sensor/UI)! Im not a fan of Garmin (had a Fenix 6X - too much stuff on watch you dont need and Garmins design is fugly and old looking), and COROS Vertix 2 - while amazing battery life - is similar (action cam apps you cannot delete) and really bad screen detail with dated pastel screen colors. I like the focused approach to the Suunto UI and minimalist sleek nature of the case. Ive come to prefer the black/white breadcrumb trail for navigation as they are easier to read on a small screen - even 1.4 inches is too small for a little map and the track gets lost IMHO. Also, I could read incoming texts on my Suunto 9P, but could NOT on the larger COROS screen as the font was so bad. FYI on the velcro band, I have tried them, and they are lighter/more comfortable, BUT they do have their drawbacks. They stay wet out of the shower or swimming (the band gets your clothes wet - as if you sit and have a coffee and you rest your wrist on your pants…), and my COROS velcro strap got stained from bleach (wearing my watch while house cleaning). They aren’t as robust as a good elastomer band that’s for sure. Just my 2 cents.
