Spartan Sport WHRB, Pedometer is too much sensitive
-
Hey All, I bought a SSSWHRB 3 weeks ago and I like it, for running, to bike, hiking, and so on, its a great Multisport Watch!!
But I found the integratet Pedometer is too much sensitiv. I work in an Office and have
a desk workplace. In the evening, the watch show me 8000 Steps done… Never ever!!
My Mobile what I have in my pocket is showing 2000 steps. My daughter has a realy cheap Pedometer Watch bought at amazon for 29€ shows the same.
I know that the Pedometer is not the mainfeature from the Suunto Watch, but,I think, that I can expect a good functionig pedometer from a watch with so much high tech in it, or?? Each Mobile can and as well each realy cheap pedometer watch.Maybe it would be a good idea if Suunto can add the possibility to adjust the sensitivity, so anybody can adjust by self.
How do you think about it?
Best regards

My experience, too. I already asked Suunto Support to look into it, receiving the expected polite answer (developers will have a look).
Nevertheless, as this is definitely a “watch problem”, and this forum - currently - is a forum concentrating (mostly) on the App … the feature request might not have the biggest impact (but there is always hope ) -
I’ve attached some daily steps SSU 1.12.36 (Right hand) and FitBit Altra HR ( Left hand). Both are set, to the specific wrist. Yes there are differences, right handed so hence the higher steps (more movement). Some days the gap converges and some are worse. But unless you use with an additional metric ( stride length, gps,hr) or can compare to legacy, steps are just general. I’m on my feet all day, and walk 90% of the time, most days I can easily clear 10k. I also dislike typing with my SSU on, So I tend to remove it if at the computer. To glean any information from steps I’ll look at the coarse differences. HR based data is always my better metric for analysis.
if there is any way to “turn down” or set a dominant hand. This may help in decreasing the differences in the steps recorded.
Sounds from previous posts that the developers are on this.

My experience is at the beginning steps count were way over counting, but with time it got better, I think some accelerometer profile is being updated. Especially got better after walking workouts
-
Same here.
The other day, I see some steps while I was lying down in the bed without moving…
-
@suzzlo Yes, everyday in the morning, I see that I have 200-400 steps done during sleep… Maybe I walk thrugh the night… but I don’t think so
-
@oli_ver any activity tracking device counts steps even during sleep, I’ve had on Garmin as well average of 100-200 steps per night, same story with Fitbit and it is normal as you quite move during the night and accelerometer detects movement and counts as step.

Hi it’s a pedometer on your hand and not on your shoes…
What did you expect?
-
No matter what watch/brand you try, will never give you right steps. Its nature of state of art from technology. But if i may, can i question for which propose you want to get absolute measurement of steps?
-
There are improvements to be made though…
-
I’ve heard of that but I have to admit that my Trainer is quite accurate. When I wake up I sometimes have a couple of steps recorded but never that high.
Discrepancies calibration between units? -
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos We expect a bit more accuracy, not real value…
-
@luís-pinto this one is very accurate and battery last’s forever
-
@slash Very nice!
-
To me the way the steps are presented, specially in the watch, is quite annoying. Even it’s so inaccurate, it’s so ”dominant”. For example if you want to see a summary of the day, you see the steps first, but you know already, there’s no value in that number. Okay, you can compare the days, but just staring at the absolute numbers has no point, imho.

although it seems, that there have already been adaptations, as it seems, that during walks/runs the steps are not too bad, this seems possible.
Just in case here is a comparison FYI … and it shows: nothing and nobody is perfect (is anybody surprised? )

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos like suzzlo has written, I expect a bit more accuracy! Like the very very good accuracy of the 29 € pedometer from my daughter which she wears also on her wrist!
And this should be possible on a watch for more than 400€… -
@oli_ver I agree
