Suppression of activities in the logbook
-
Hello,
I had an issue recently with the Suunto 5 Peak watch. Suddenly, the watch spontaneously “lost” 3 weeks history of my training/activity log in April, although these were still in the Sunnto App.
Since then, activities are correctly saved again in the logbook, but this loss of data altered other features such as the estimated VO2max or training planning…
Has anyone experienced the same issue?Additional issue: I can’t erase some of my former routes. I erased them in the Sunnto App (iOS), but these are still in the watch’s navigation menu… Any ideas?
Cheers

Has anyone experienced the same issue?No, I do not think I’ve ever seen something like that happening.

So you removed the watch toggle in the app, synced your watch, then deleted the routes in the app?

No I just deleted these routes from my Suunto App (older routes I didn’t need anymore), then synced the watch with the App:
Some of these “old routes” were still in the watch, despite the deletion was OK in the App -

I’m just thinking out loud…
could it be that you’re missing your older logbook activities? the logbook can only store a certain amount of activities before it’s full.regarding the route, I think I recall that the process is to toggle off “use in watch”. then the route is removed from the watch and can be deleted from the phone.

Hi, no I don’t think so. First I have this watch since its release in March. Secondly, I have a gap: I lost all my records (only in the watch, again, hopefully it’s still in the App) between the 8th of April and the 18th of April…. Very strange.As for the routes, they are no longer in the App! But surprisingly still in the WATCH…!

not sure what makes the logbook to disappear activities. but I’m sure they’re still in the app.
it would be good to know if the logbook activities are all colored or still grey?what if you sync a new route to the watch, do the old deleted routes remain on the watch?
edit: I’ve tried with my Android setup. when I delete a route from my list in the app without removing it first for “use in the watch” it’s removed automatically. Maybe someone with iOS is of better help here…

Yes sure activities are still in the App. I can see them. In the watch, these activities are not coloured nor grey…They’re just missing.When I synced a new route in the watch from the App, yes, the old deleted routes still remain in the watch.
This issue is just for 2 old routes, because now even when I remove a route, it disappear from the watch.Regarding these 2 “old routes”, I can’t remember if I switched off the button “Use in the watch” first before deleting…sorry it was like 2 months ago…
Thanks for your help anyway!

@vincent-mayousse
thank you for clarification.
I can only take a wild guess and assume that your watch must have had some kind of crash.
You could do a soft reset (12s press upper right button) and observe if this issue remains.
I can imagine that the routes remain in the watch because of the cache. SA in the phone doesn’t know these routes are still in the watch.please keep us posted, maybe or hopefully it was just an isolated and unique issue

@freeheeler
Thanks. Yes I think the watch had a slight crash too… I tried a soft reset, both issues remain however. I think you’re right regarding the cache. Maybe it will be solved with the next update.If I have the issue again (random loss of some activities), I’ll contact Sunnto and ask for a replacement (of course the watch is still under guarantee). I asked them on the hotline about these issues, they couldn’t help me, hence this post on the forum.

@vincent-mayousse keep us posted because this is interesting, if something like that happens again Suunto should know.
