      Hello,
yesterday I went for an easy run ( I am non in good shape at all atm) and put the new alti algo to the test. A place where I run often is peculiar because it is a closed loop with a very tiny bit of elevation gain/loss. Repeating it over and over again results in a very small elevation gain (10m/h) I was curious to put the new algo to the test in this place.
To make it short, the elevation gain was correctly measured at the end of the activity BUT the 'TOTAL ASCENT" data field showed 0 (zero) until when 51 minutes into training, I did leave the loop to hit a relatively bigger hill (minute 56).

After that the data field it was like awaken and started showing and incrementing total ascent as expected. Here the picture taken during the run:

IDK if this an expected or wanted behavior but having the altitude refreshed before minute 51 is what I expected whit a meter by meter altitude algo.

As a persons who runs thousand of meters in elevation gain per session (when I am in good shape), that is negligible for me but I think is a small thing that suunto could consider working on.

      Hope this helps.

@fluca how big is the small hill? Because the 3 meters threshold is still there, if the ascent is less than 3 meters (in a short amount of distance/time not sure what exactly) it is not counted.

@isazi So it expected behavior. I’m almost sure it is under 3 meters.

@fluca idea is: reaching threshold of 3 (or 7) meters starts the 1m incremental elevation updates. So, no updates if threshold hasn’t been reached.

Please keep sharing feedback on the new algorithm, it is nice to see it validated in the open (or find cases where it does not work).
