Since the software update, the battery of my Suunto 9 Baro is draining really fast (completely dead in less than 24hrs without exercising). Neither soft nor hard reset has helped so far. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Any suggestions?
Suunto chat support operating times are unfortunately not very user-friendly if you have to work 9 to 5.Did you find solution to fix the issue? I did not. Soft or hard reset did not help neither did Suunto supports advice to put it in some “deep sleep” -mode. So just sent the watch to service. Let’s see what they are able to do.
-
@stefan-kersting you mean the new ascent algorithm? I think it works for everything.
-
@isazi yes, I think I read something about that the new algo just worked with the standard activities. that did not seem logical to me. more logical that you are saying
-
@stefan-kersting there was a change in the standard hiking profile. Maybe you are mixing this? It was defaulting to auto-profile (resulting in long flats when going up at a very low rate), this was changed to
baroalti-profile. Custom hiking always had been baro anyway… -
@egika you mean alti
-
@isazi
I guess these 2 bullets caused a bit of confusion
-
@jtahka No I didn’t find a solution. Probably I also have to send it to service.
-
@egika I think now I catchend the point. As @freeheeler mentioned the info was maybe a little bit confusing to me
-
@stefan-kersting it just need to be resurected. Suunto already had button lock on Ambit Series.
-
@tomas5
as if it would be thaaat easy… -
@freeheeler just need to copy paste some code from archives
-
@tomas5
I thought the same and I recall that I used pretty much the same words… but reality seems to be different… at least I think so, after 2.5 years asking for it -
@lukas179 My S9B (granite blue titanium) looses 20% battery in 24h without any training. Settings: Raise to wake off, standby light off, no notifications, backlight set to medium. Tried everything (soft reset, hard reset, reinstall firmware,…).
This is my third S9B. The first one got the wrong charging cable in the box (the one from the S5, LOL), the second unit was completely scratched (even the glass), the charging port was full of dirt and the buttons were grey instead of granite blue (more LOL). And now the third device has battery problems and backlight bleed (no more LOL). I bought the watch on Amazon (new device, not Amazon Warehouse). I think I got three times a used watch, although the boxes were sealed.
I don’t know if this is Amazon’s or Suunto’s fault. I wonder how often I have to send this “premium” device back until I get for what I have paid for.
Maybe all of this is a bit off topic. So in my case it’s maybe not a problem with the latest firmware update.
-
@wmichi 5 days battery life seems okayish. I get 4-6 after the last update.
-
@dmytro Ok, thanks for this info. So I don’t need to worry
-
@wmichi you’re on the current firmware, right? I’d suggest setting background brightness to low. But otherwise it seems somewhat consistent with my results.
-
@dmytro Yes, right after turning the watch on for the first time, I updated to 2.19.42. After the update I got a really bad battery life, which got better after charging the device to 100%. I will play around with the backlight settings.
-
@wmichi You have sleep- or 24/7 HR on?
20% per day looks a bit too much. For reference, my S9P loses about 3-4% per day after the latest firmware update.
I’m 9 days after the latest charge and some hours of training and the watch is down to 54% at the moment. -
@surfboomerang Yes, sleep and 24/7 hr active. I wanted to replace my S9P with this S9B, because the screen of the Peak is a bit too small for me. Also my S9P lasts longer, even with permanent standby light on (adaptive on). Maybe I need to drain the battery of the S9B to 0% and do a full charge.
