Software update 2.18.18 Sept 28 2021
-
Regarding the watchfaces, the new and the old ones: somebody at Suunto is very interested in the sunset time, but some of us, the ones that tend to run in the morning, we are interested in the sunrise time (helps to avoid running with the headlamp).
Why sunset is nearly always a variable field in the watchfaces but not the sunrise? Could someone at Suunto consider this and make the sunrise time a field with the same importance than the sunset time. -
Thanks @dimitrios-kanellopoulos! Now I remember, still have to get used to the brave new or rather untethered world !

iOS users using control media, try to press play with the camera app open.
-
@bulkan Nothing happened, at least on my phone
-
@bulkan And notifications …
-
Nice to see the S9B evolving
The update failed and the watch needed reset 3 times in a row before finally succeeded.
I don’t understand why the Suunto app doesn’t restore sports mode customizations after a watch reset, now I have to re-create them from scratch -
Any news regarding the Structured Workouts Import from TP to Suunto Watches?

Hello,
I’ve got a problem updating my Suunto 9 Peak.
Application (installed on Android device, V4.45.3) tells the software package has been downloaded.
When trying to update it through the watch itself, it tells there is no update availableI’ve just tried resetting the watch and reinstalling application, there is no change.
Any idea ?Thank you.

Sounds amazing!
does anybody, if the new vertical-meter-algo is included in this update?
-
@theguyfromthesummit for s9p only
-
@theguyfromthesummit what kind of function is that?
-
@dmytro Thanks! Wasn’t there a discussion about an improvement for the S9B as well?
As far as I can remember, the S9P is already better in terms of "small up and down"s adding to the ascent -
@stefan-kersting Is a new algo to count more precisely the ascent, for large uphills shouldn’t make a difference compared with the existing algo but for small hills and hill repeats should be more accurate , the existing one tend to underestimate the total ascent.
-
@theguyfromthesummit it was mentioned as well, that s9p will be sorta used to test run the algorithm + position of baro holes on s9b makes it much more difficult to implement, so it might come eventually, but it has not been decoded yet.
-
Good work! Really smooth update process. It will be interesting to check all new things.
-
So it’s not a major update. The good news is for the fix update.
A new watch face
Improved sync speed with Suunto app
Improved Altitude readings
New Ascent/Descent algorithm
Music control is useless because we can control music on all headsets and it’s much more convenient when we run. The only interesting thing would be to have the possibility to synchronize music via spotify and play it off line. I would like to have your opinion on this point especially since I tried by launching an activity and it does not work (freez…)
wait for the next one… -
@dmytro thanks! too bad, then I have overlooked that small but important detail let’s hope
-
@frederick-rochette For me it’s major because of the modified algo regarding acsent/decsent. Really don’t need any more functions like music control.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Awesome update! Do you know if fixes include:
-
Zombie notifications?
-
Fix to ETA in Ghost Runner, where it was calculating ETA based on the current pace and a total target distance, not the distance remaining?
A separate question: do you know how fat/carbs are counted? I’d imagine it should be off my heart rate, but then the watch would need to have my aerobic threshold somewhere? Perhaps, anchored as one of the zones?

@nickk said in Software update 2.18.18 Sept 28 2021:
- Zombie notifications?
It should improve this, at least for most use cases.
- Fix to ETA in Ghost Runner, where it was calculating ETA based on the current pace and a total target distance, not the distance remaining?
Yes.
