Heart rate monitor active when watch is not in my wrist
-
When I put the watch on the table with the sensor pointing down, I constantly see the heart rate monitor LED blinking. It also collects “real” data, it does not measure 0 heart rate. Is this some kind of bug? Can’t the watch detect that it is not being worn?
Additionally, I never sleep with the watch but I can see that the app did some sleep tracking during part of some nights.
What can be done? I don’t care about the bogous data (though it does bring some concern - how accurate the heart rate when the watch is on the wrist?) but I do want the watch not to spend battery on these futile measurements.

@artium all heart rates due to optical technology can measure hr even on a banana.
The suunto 9 detects motion and then fires the measurement.
If you have it on a desk , foot vibrations can trigger that. Keep it on a wall, a library etc
