Ghost Runner target update
-
Hi,
is it possible to change the Ghost Runner target during an activity?
I mean, as an example, start with 5’00" pace at the beginning, move to 4’30" after a while during the same running session.Thank you

@becco981 I think you should press the lower button two times in some short time interval, but I never got it to work.
-
@дима-мельниченко just tried. It seems that the ghost pace is set to new average every time you press the lower button (lap).
To be confirmed.

@becco981 rtfm: https://www.suunto.com/Support/Product-support/suunto_9/suunto_9/suuntoplus/suuntoplus-ghost-runner/
The mentioned manual lap average pace needs >10s between two button presses afaik

Maybe on a future update it would be possible to be able to set the time target in 1 minute increments? 5 minute increment targets are kind of hopeless if you are shooting for say a 5km or 10km PB, for example one of my goals is to run a sub 20min 5km but I only have 15 or 20 as time options? Guess I’d just have to set the Ghost Runner to a distance instead of time based target?
I admit I haven’t yet played around with it much, this is just what I am initially finding so please correct me if I’m being dumb

@miniforklift in general I would also like the ability to enter any number as target (target is something that was there before the ghost runner though). Although in your case you are running a known distance so I would set that as target, and then use ghost runner to have the estimated time to finish.
-
@isazi That makes sense with regards to inputting the distance. Is it estimating the time to finish by going off your average speed? If it is then I would have thought it would put you nicely in the ballpark with regards to the finishing time - pretty useful to have as a screen during a long race such as an ultra

-
@miniforklift I think currently it’s done using the speed at that instant. In the future it may be reworked a little, so that finishing time is still computed from the instantaneous speed but only the remaining distance is taken into account. All info drawn from the forum.
-
@miniforklift the estimate is a bit rough in the production firmware, but it should work in your case because the distance you are aiming at is short and will be a single effort from you (no stops, no changing pace too much). In the “future” the estimate will also improve.

@miniforklift Agreed, I am using this by either inputting the cut off time on a race I was unlikely to finish (typically only 2-5% finish the one I tried) and GhostRunner will tell me how far I will get. Or input the distance for the race and you will see the time it will take to cover the distance, i.e. finish time. I find this quite useful.
