@tomas5
the battery life varied for me a lot… the more I need to charge, the happier I am in general since it is a direct result of me doing way more what I love -
@freeheeler or battery deterioration…
-
@tomas5 Prior to this firmware the standby backlight could be set to on or off. In the winter I would set this to on and it was continuously on 24/7 with a small effect on the battery. Now with the new firmware the standby backlight will be on intermittently so this should improve not reduce battery. The raise to wake does not activate the full backlight as does a button press but the standby backlight.

@дима-мельниченко
maybe… but I don’t think so, it would be too soon now. I guess I can keep my watch until it effectively only lasts 12h with chest HR and performance mode… that’s longer than I last with one dinner “charge” -
@brad_olwin well in my case backlight was always off. Only enabled by toggle mode (Long press of upper left button). And usually it means it was enabled few seconds a day. Now it is enabled with every button press and received notification so it will be enabled not seconds but minutes a day since i use watch and notification regularly. Thats why i am worried about battery life, but as i said i will see in few weeks. Maybe it wil be unnoticable difference.

@freeheeler yes thats true, i am happy too when i move more often and do some bike or hike but i must say that last year i am more lazy than i would like to be. But i am working on change.

I think I found a backlight-related bug in my S9 (non-baro). Could someone try to replicate it?
My settings:
- Standby backlight: ON
- Raise to wake: ON
Choose any exercise and before you start it, set this up:
- Battery mode: Custom
- Display timeout: On
Start the exercise.
And now for that bug:
Once the display turns off, the button press wakes the display but it doesn’t turn on the backlight. Raise to wake also doesn’t work while the display is on. When you long press the middle button and enter the menu, backlight is still off. And even when you switch backlight to On in the menu it doesn’t work.Only in the moment when the watch shows “Display turning off. Press any button to turn back on.” the backlight works as expected. If you press any button during this, it will work as it should (until the display turns back off again).

@inkognito
confirmed with S9B -
@inkognito I’ll try and report it to Suunto.
-
Ghost runner is nice, I’ll use it for steady run that for me is the psychologically most difficult training.
-
@lorenzo12375 surprisingly enough I use it while hiking to see how fatigue impacts my speed over time.
-
Habemus Vo2max! Suunto5
Two workouts after update.
8km easy run
Custom running mode
Ghost+Snap to route+polar oh1 -
Hi that new watch face is quite useful. I miss only one information which is % of battery. Any chance to add it? That could be for example once backlight off.
-
@tomas5 It has (maybe just delayed a few days for S5) This function is really amazing when you run under trees or in the city . But it relies on open street map accuracy so maybe it will not be perfect for some outdoor trails
-
@mountaineerx
i miss my ambit 3.
more information on one screen. -
@safari
I don’t miss my ambit3 at all to be honest. I absolutely enjoyed it, but once I bought S9B and got used to it, I loved it even more… and I have 7 data fields without touching the watch -

Seeing this same behavior on my S9B now as well…
-
@stromdiddily I’ll report this.

No idea if it is related to the latest FW update but a friend of mine has my old S9B after I received my new watch. The watch has been reset to factory default and configured a week ago.
Today he sends me this picture:
At first I was thinking he was making a joke, but it turned out to be legit. A soft reboot fixed it for now.
Any idea what can cause this behavior? It never happened to me in the time I owned the watch. -

Inverted watch face, to look into a mirror
