Suunto 9 Peak (review and specs)
-
@pavel-samokha Oh, thanks a lot for this picture. I own a blue Spartan Sport without WHR, and I was always hoping for a thinner model. Great comparison with this pic. Would it be too much to ask if you could make pics where you wear them? One with the SSS and one with the S9P?
-
The S9P is quite high on the list for replacing my 2016 SSU. One of the reasons for replacement is that the SSU tracks outdoor swimming verry poorly, compared to my buddy’s 945 and Fenix 6. 6X: link to strava.com SSU: link to strava.com.
I still like the Suunto design and I’m quite happy with and used to the app and watch interface. So a better tracking Suunto would be interesting.
Did anyone of you do some open water swimming throughout your (beta)testing, to see how it compares with better tracking devices like the the 945?
-
@theo-lakerveld a few testers did. Since it has the “same” Sony logic gps chip, it is pretty much the same with the normal 9. The f6 has the same chip with the s9 if not mistaken. The Sony chip has a special swim mode. As long as you don’t hold the hand for minutes inside the water it will quickly and accurately find the GPS on each stroke.

@jthomi
I’ll clarify for someone who may encounter these photos without context - it’s comparison of Suunto Spartan Sport without WHR vs Suunto 9 Peak. SSSwoHR is also quite thin and lovely watch, but S9P is thinner, lighter, more premium and better looking watch. -
@pavel-samokha Thanks a lot!!!
-
@pavel-samokha size difference is huge. Is the strap on Peak blue or black? Have you changed it?
-
@dulko79 the strap is from All Black
-
I find the white watchface for summer and brighter days brilliant

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos
Please stop, we have to wait June 17th, it is hard enough . -
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos wow, the readability seems to be really good.
-
@richard-thygesen yes. And the magic is that it will be for all conditions due to the ambient light sensor. Combined with DND you can get a pitch black screen at sleep and a watchface always visible even in pitch black.
The above is a pic taken with no backlight. That is because the ambient light sensor didn’t need to light it up.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Is there a battery life difference between white and black theme?

Agree, but the time is also readable and the size of the numbers looks very close

-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos thanks for explaining that. I’m looking forward to seeing some reference tracks from the testers when these get available!
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos that blue on white is beautiful
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos how does the tilt to wake work…does it unlock the watchface using the arm movement or do you still need to press a button to unlock the watchface?
-
@northeast_trekker it turns on the backlight for a few seconds.
-
@isazi nice so it essentially removes the requirement of a button press. That was what I had hoped would be the case. Can you then touch the screen to cycle through data elements/complications?

If you know where to look there are many already on SA:)
