Turn by Turn Navigation in opposite way does not work properly
-
Servus S9 Users, and i supose, this is the same at other watches…
in the search, i found nothing to this issue…
Today, i took a little hike, planned with komoot. We started in the opposite direction as planned in Komoot like often in the past - the watch had no problems with this. Now with turn-by-turn-navigation, the commands are in the wrong way. When i had to turn right, the watch says left - went two times the wrong way till i realized, that the commands are wrong…
The watch had during the hike one black-screen-restart (there are now two hikes in one sunday ), i don´t know, if it has to do with the “wrong-way-issue”…
Can this be fixed, or have i to go, like i planned in Komoot in future?
Thanks a lot

@andreaskauth the issue of the watch possibly having issues following a route in reverse is known already.
For the turn by turn, unfortunately you need to plan in Komoot the direction you want to use the route, there is no way for Komoot to add waypoints for both directions.
-
@andreaskauth it’s not TbT, it’s labeled waypoints. Until Suunto produces true TbT, which would probably require onboard maps, you’ll have to either go straight on or remember to reverse directions if you’re going backwards.
-
@andreaskauth good find!
-
@jthomi we believe we are progressing and finally not enough time …
-
@zrumlow or he can create 2 routes in komoot, one for each direction, just in case

I think turn by turn instructions are generated in Komoot and sent to the watch, thus if you reverse the route in the watch, you just get the turn by turn instructions from last to first, instead of having them really reversed.
You’ll have to reverse the route in the Komoot app (Choose your tour, click «plan similar», then click on the three dots icon which is on the right of waypoints green bar on the top, and choose the reverse option). Save that new tour and sync again with the watch. -
During planning a Route with komoot I found out that reversing a planned route can change positons of some waypoints, you should look into the route before saving.

@martin
Of course.
TbT is just a route with named waypoints … and wps are named based on how you draw the route. -
I probably know the most tricks in Komoot, i´m working with it for years. And it ist very nice, that i can get the information about the turns on each waypoint without having the app running on smartphone.
Actually, this is not what i expected in the 21. century, so i was really suprised about the issue.
In future, i will go the “right way” in my routes.Thanks for your reply!

@oktan ya that works as long as you remember to do that and have a cellular signal when you roll up to the trailhead. Doesn’t do you much good on top of a mountain though.
-
@zrumlow one may not go unprepared to top of a mountain which he/she doesn’t know
-
@zrumlow you can create both routes in advanced. It may be not as elegant, but if TbT is important - why not?
-
@дима-мельниченко I mean, I just flip them in my head if I’m going backwards
-
@zrumlow that’s a possibility too
