Yesterday I paired my Stryd with my SSU as a foot pod. I see that the description on my watch now says “Running speed and cadence”. Does this mean that distance will still be based on GPS, whereas things like pace will be based on the Stryds data?

@bulkan Thanks. Got confused by the fact that distance wasn’t mentioned on the actual watch. I take it if I add it as a power pod, I’ll only get the power reading.

@aleksander-h That link says Stryd is used for distance. My setup is Stryd and Suunto 9 or Spartan and I’ve been assuming my distance is coming from the footpod and not GPS. I’ve also observed this to be the case or at least that’s what it seems.

Also, make sure to turn that auto-calibration off, maybe that’s what makes distance from footpod (note: if you have AC on and used it that way make sure to completely remove and re-add the footpod device since you can’t access the calibration factor and set it too 1.

@aleksander-h I believe it is the same for Spartan as S series. And this is how my old Spartan worked. Paired as foot pod will give power, speed, cadence and distance from Stryd. Paired as power pod will provide only power from Stryd and all other metrics from the watch. Make sure you set the auto calibration on the watch for the foot pod to off, otherwise the GPS data will try to add a calibration factor to the Stryd.
