Tracking precision alpine vs backcountry
-
Somebody that has experience with the precision of backcountry vs alpine mode? I’m not sure but I think these two modes have a different precision level concerning the gps track.
I think the alpine mode is more precise because the gps track shows every turn but in the backcountry all my Turns are not shown. It’s just a straight line down.
Anybody who can confirm that?

@stefan-kersting Could be possible.
I also noticed this with running. GPS setting is on best so that should record every second but the running profile records at variable intervals between 1 and approximately 5 seconds.If you analyse the JSON file it should be visible.

@stefan-kersting
I don’t notice that… maybe you need to do wider turns?

@freeheeler maybe I should not run straight down all the way but it is a possible explanation…

@surfboomerang what is JASON?
-
@stefan-kersting If your watch syncs with SA, it creates a file named “entry_<numbers>.zip” file on the phone. On Android phones it is located in the folder “Internal shared storage\Android\data\com.stt.android.suunto\files\smlzip”.
If you open the file, you see 2 JSON files inside: “summary.json” and “samples.json”.
The last file contains every GPS sample (and more) the watch recorded. -
@surfboomerang ok, i think this doesn’t work an iPhone

@stefan-kersting I would be surprised if those file weren’t created on iPhones, but I don’t own one so I can’t check
Maybe someone else in this forum knows the location of those files on iPhones?
