Suunto 9 Altitude Screen
-
After 4 years with my Suunto Traverse i now use Suunto 9 non baro version. After i do hiking or mountain climbing i can see altitude information on my watch. But i want to see it when i am not training. I just want a gps based altitude screen. ( i cannot buy suunto 9 baro) After 4 years Traverse experience i thought that the new watch of Suunto has more than Traverse have. I am sorry to be wrong

@zavlak
that means you would switch on every time you go to the altitude screen… not sure if this is what the majority wants.
normally you decide for a non baro version because altitude is not prio one. -
@zavlak ciao unfortunately I don’t have a Suunto 9 but I do have the Baro version so I am not sure about the non baro version.
But on the S9b on several watch faces there is the altitude (touching the screen you can select which value to display among several, and one is the altitude)
Is altitude value not available at all on S9? -
Hello,
I think you can use one of ugly watchface we have and tap on screen to display altitude.
After maybe you should go to settings to set manually or with gps our altitude level.But at the end due to “non baro” i think your altitude will be always wrong because in watch mode GPS should be off so it can’t correct automatically our level with it or barometer as the S9 baro.
Cheers from France

Ouch that’s true…
@G287-SF said in Suunto 9 Altitude Screen:

-
@pacos unfortunately not available at non baro version

@zavlak
which makes sense, because it would already be wrong if you only go down the staircase. And rather show nothing than something wrong, right? -
@zavlak the S9 has sooo much more.
Color screen, touch, optical heart rate, etc, etc etc.
Just if you buy the model without barometric sensor, you don’t get constant altitude information.
And you won’t get it with GPS either.
It just makes no sense to switch on GPS for 15mins (it usually takes 12mins to get enough GPS samples for a good altitude reading), just to find you are indoors and there is no signal.
The impact on battery would be huge and the data bad to not usable.It’s like you’ve got a BMW 5 with manual gearbox and complain it does not shift like your Daihatsu with automatic…
