Just wondering if anybody missing this too or is it just me?
Some trail run races even offering this number in the race instruction information.
Maybe Im missing something or interpret some existing features wrong.
Can Anybody help me and guide me to the right settings, or set me free that I’m not longer searching for this, please?
So total elevation gain or ( same thing) total ascent is not the same as ascent and descent , right ?
      thanks

@Knuffer it is the same. And elevation gain/loss for each lap can be see at the bottom of an activity.

@Knuffer So you are looking for the total ascent and descent of an activity? Or in a route?

If it is in activity, after you finish it you will have a summary where you can see the total ascent and descent. If you what to see it during the activity, you can create a custom sport with the field “ascent” and you will see the total ascent from the beginning till you check the watch. I think that the standard sport mode for trail running has this field, the one with an arrow at 45º (I do not know for sure because I use a custom one).

If you are referring to a route, when you follow the route you have a screen with the route profile and there you have info about the remaining ascent, etc…

Sorry , Im coming from Garmin watch owner shore , for many years and maybe just confused with different terms.
If I have a race over 10k with 5 peaks of 100m each ( down to sea level after each peak)- my “total elevation gain” in Garmin words are 500 m in 10 k - this is in Suunto Terms equivalent with " ascent " and “descent” correct ?
            Its culminated right?

Thanks all of you for quick clarification . I will do some test running on the weekend .
Suunto plus activation before a activity - activating "Climb Hill Training " - the only additional measuring is in result after training and finishing the activity - telling me how often I run uphill . correct ? whats this really for? Is there a more detailed explanation somewhere ? I searched the web for hours and watched several reviews . thanks

@Knuffer you also can see the intervals during activity. Detailed description can be found in the manual. Well, as the name suggests it is meant for hill climb training. Watch marks a lap upon detection of some altitude change threshold.

it also shows in an additional screen the amount of climbs plus the ascent rate etc… I find it pretty useful but a bit of a pitty that we can not assign it to be default for certain activities. Or to toggle it on or off before an activity and that it remembers the last selection. For me it is THE only S+ feature I use.
