      Hi there,

the lower right button of my Spartan Trainer wrist HR got stuck so it no longer responds to other buttons (and it is stuck in the “good morning” view currently). I checked with shops that are marked as service centers on the Suunto website but these are all dive shops and only service Suunto diving computers. They won’t service a Spartan Trainer watch. So now I’m wondering:

      • Can I fix this myself somehow?

      • Is there a way this issue could have been prevented? I think I just woke up with it like this, so it probably got stuck while I was sleeping.

      • Is this a common issue with these watches? I’ve also got a (much older) Ambit S2 and a (much newer) Ambit 3 Peak. This Spartan trainer is about 30 months old, used daily for moderate activities (typically using the Ambit watches for the more serious stuff) though the Spartan did get wet and dirty (using it paddle boarding, hiking, running, commutes etc). But the Ambit 2S has had a tough life too and never gave me issues.

      • Can it be repaired? If so, where and what would it cost (more or less)? I live in The Netherlands. If it would be too expensive, alternative options would be to use a third party optical sensor (like a Polar OH1 or MioPod) with my Ambit watch for these moderate activities or move straight onto the Suunto 5 (which finally seems to have the vibrating alarm clock which I initially hoped to find in the Spartan Trainer, but which it didn’t have).

      Thank you!
      Vinay

Is the button stuck pressed or you can still push it ?

Have you ever tried cleaning it ?

@sartoric Thanks for your response. It is stuck down and I can’t press it further down. I just tried to wash it but it doesn’t come back up. All other buttons move just fine though I noticed the upper left button does sound a bit creaky or well, the sound you get when you squeeze or bend a PE (polyethylene) disposable plastic bottle. Not saying it is an issue, just an observation I just made and which is not present in my Ambit watches. But yeah, obviously the button being stuck down is an actual issue as it makes the watch unresponsive.

Anyone some other suggestions or maybe something to say about one or more of the four bullet points mentioned?

          Thanks all!

Thank you! I also just found a response from one dive center I contacted and they sent me this link: https://www.suunto.com/fy-nl/Support/Repair-services/Online-Service-Request/ So I’ll try that.
