S9 - Custom Apps
-
Hello,
First, let me say sorry if the question has been already asked, I search the forum and the web but couldn’t find any answer.
I upgraded from my suunto 3 S a while ago (needed more battery life for ironmans) and while I enjoy the 9, I really miss my old apps in Movescount. With the phone application, I can’t find something similar to let say, ghosts mode on a certain pace. I used to run with it a lot, and now I am “stuck” with everything. While I can do it with average pace (same thing) I found it more challeging with the negative marker when you are too slow (used to say -120m).
Maybe I missed something (It seems to me you can’t work with movescount now with the S9), can someone tell me if you can have custom apps ??Regards,

With 3S, do you mean Ambit 3?
As far as I know, there is no support for apps in the S series, it is something that is specific to Ambits only.

Yes, that is what I meant. I didn’t know it was only ambit, it’s a shame

@Brad_Olwin seems that’s a bit more challenging to actually have data input into S+ (either by SA or on the watch).
That’s why the wings for life mode is in there. It is a ghost runner - just with fixed input parameters.
Once Suunto comes up with a way to parameterize S+ from outside ghost runner should be one of the first functions to make use of it -
@Egika There is a real-time ETA on the Weather SuuntoPlus taken from the route data. That is why I assumed it shouldn’t be that difficult to implement.

@Brad_Olwin yes, watch live data of course is available to S+ code.
Just for ghost runner you would need to input data like desired average speed etc.
This would need a way to enter this data into S+, like a parameter.
Could be done in the watch directly or through SA, but currently there is no S+ function that makes use of user defined numbers.
That’s why I suppose the Wings for Life is in there instead of a real ghost runner. Of course it’s just an assumption…
