Something new is coming
-
I just returned from a wilderness trip using the Suunto 9 baro in the mountains. On August 30 there was a big snowstorm here and I was at 12,500 feet and got hammered by wet snow. It would have been nice to be able to easily keep an eye on the barometric pressure so that situation could have been avoided.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos week 3

What do you think, any chance for new watch faces?
-
@tomahawk5000 to me it looks like the first screen with the yellow/green IS actually a new watch face
-
@Egika oh
Hope that is one from a few new watch faces. On that fits screen is sun rise and sun set, pressure and altitude -
I wonder if S5 will get some love too.

I got it too a few minutes ago. Just the two weather images. I wish it comes with POIs support, my particular form of obsession.
-
@Efejota POI Support is via the APP. No Watch update is needed. The app atm doesnt have that and I cannot comment , hot or cold on this. I will be able to know better sooner, but I would not hold high hopes for anytime soon. Other cool things will happen though…

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos coolness intensifies.

Looooookin’ cool Suunto.
Gimme POI mgmt and navigation w/ this and I’ll give you some of my money!
Gimme offline POI mgmt from my phone and I’ll crap my pants.

Hm… nice functionality, but seriously not a necessary improvement. Is it just calculated on the watch? What weather service is used?
I only rely on TopMeteo weather which is leading especially for paragliding and other „air-sports“.
I still think there are more important improvements to prioritize than a weather function.I hoped Suunto will be a real alternative in 2020 to switch back to my S9B…but still not yet
-
@moe67er it’s not an improvement what people asked about barometric pressure that many ambit users had?
-
Weather function is just a gadget, it is mor important to have a propper barometric pressure function. Here in Norway the weather service YR.no has developed weather forecast models that are matching the norwegian topography with its smal scaled valleys, fjords… So other weather modells don’t predict as well and I think other countries have their own forecast modells, too. So a weather function integration does only sense when you can choose you local weather service in your country.
-
@Stefan-Kersting @moe67er
can’t follow. The two screens shared here have nothing to do with any weather service information.
It is just about showing the watch’s sensor data (pressure/temperature) differently to before - as a watch face and during workout.
Both has been missing and was requested a lot.
There is no indication about weather forecast syncronization like the S7 has it.
Any discussion about which weather service is best for which place or activity is useless here - sorry. -
-
Looks like a new watch face and a SuuntoPlus data screen. I’d be happy to see generic usability improvements in the route navigation UI, like waypoint names on the watch, possibility to see the route during pause. As an SSU owner I’m losing hope, it didn’t get the bug related to button lock and display timeout fixed.
-
For me it’s just a new watch face with 2 screens.
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos do you have some news about SuuntoPlus?
-
@Mi_chael you may notice that the text “weather” on the top of the screen has the same design as the Strava and TP screens, and you can also spot an “ETA” data field on the screen, which is valid only during activity.
-
It’s nice to see such news. I hope this is the beginning of Suunto autumn news and we will see something really new very soon.
