      Wonder if you can help?
Just sold a Fenix 5x and got the suunto 9 baro and so far absolutely regretting it unless you can help?

It just seems clunky in comparison?

      Questions?

When I’m on trail running can I access the compass?
Should the battery discharge by about 20% a day?( it’s on it’s first charge)
Can I create my own screens for workouts?..the standard ones don’t give me what I want?
Presume the cadence needs doubled to get my steps per minute?
Do I have to calobrate the compass every time I go into it?

Any help appreciated as on the verge of returning it and going straight back to garmin and I really want it to work?

The quickest way to answer your questions is to copy paste it into the magical mystery tool aka search function 😁
as most of them are topics already discussed.

        eg.
        https://forum.suunto.com/search?term=compass activity&in=titlesposts&matchWords=all&sortBy=relevance&sortDirection=desc&showAs=posts
        https://forum.suunto.com/search?term=s9 battery discharge&in=titlesposts&matchWords=all&sortBy=relevance&sortDirection=desc&showAs=posts

and in fact I’m going to close this post as duplicates in the next hours.

@sartoric agree with 90% but for the “how to go to the compass during a workout” I also did not find the answer, and I needed it yesterday and did not find it. So where is the “in workout compass” to be found… 😉

Just out of curiosity… why did you change your Fenix 5 for a Suunto 9 baro?

@johann-fuehrer The nearest I got was an Advanced Search using “red” + “arrow” in posts from @Brad_Olwin. Because I remembered seeing it a while back. Is that cheating?

                Yes, of course…

Presume the cadence needs doubled to get my steps per minute?

                I think you are right…

                No…

@AndyD2574 Clunky may be a personal opinion, the UIs are quite different for Garmin vs Suunto, funny I bought and returned a 5x because it was difficult to navigate the UI and seemed “clunky”:). During navigation there is a red arrow that points north, that is the best you will get for now. If you charge the watch, the charger is a strong magnet and will require a re-calibration of the compass. In fact, I have found the magnets on hydration tubes to hold them in place a PIA as every time the watch goes near one I have to recalibrate. The other questions have been answered I think.

The Suunto is rock solid with its features, mine does not crash and works effectively, whether I use Navigation or Intervals. The S9b does not have the features that a fenix 6x Pro will have so you need to decide which features are essential. However, Suunto is constantly updating the watch and likely will continue updating until a replacement comes out. Typically the updates contain new features and occur quarterly. The firmware updates undergo extensive field testing by real users…I am one of them, and typically the updates have few bugs.

Try the Navigation features, they are well integrated with the app, it is simple to find and upload a route or to draw one. I draw most of my routes on my iPhone, it is painless and quick. Long, complicates routes I do on Gaia on my iPad and drop them into a folder where I can easily import into SA. This is one area where Suunto is well above anyone else imo.
