SA and Strava show different training time + some rounds pace deviation
-
first time following happen:
time Strava and SA/S9 is different (-4 min Strava, 2h run, 4min is a lot)
Pace is also better in some rounds in Strava…Whats up? Had anyone else this?
Is this SA failure because of wrong Strava import? -
@mountainChris did you stop for a break?
-
@isazi no: is this strava autopause??? Should I have activated autopause in watch? I read once that Strava does cuts, if you are not manually pausing and have auto-pause not activated. But I wonder I did not ran to slow…
Maybe GPS sometimes missing…
-
@mountainChris yes sometimes Strava removes the time when you are not moving, but only from the total time. Segments are not affected, for example.
-
Example from today, short hike, Strava removed 4 minutes from my total time because I stopped to take photos.
-
@isazi I did not stop the whole time… So I think definitely a SA error
-
@mountainChris 4 min is a long time but if Strava thinks you are not moving it will cut the time. To check you can enable your activity in Strava as a Race, that eliminates any time that is cut due to not moving. If the Race setting matches SA then it is Strava doing the change not SA import.
-
@Brad_Olwin thanks! Good point. It is strava. Not Suunto. Sorry Suunto!
So interesting why strava thinks i am not moving… I did a reset of watch and did not turn on autopause. I think with autopause active Strava does not cut. Also when I use once manually pause…
-
If you pause Strava respects your time.
If you don’t it will do magic. It’s in their support specs.
Tip: do a 1s fake pause and voila problem solved
-
I hate when Strava does it’s magic…the other day I did a run and it scraped nearly seven minutes in a 1h 17 minutes run without stops… and I checked the map to try to find any issue and I couldn’t find any error on the contrary it was a really nice track on the map,…

@cosmecosta it has speed thresholds.

Well could be but that day the thresholds weren’t working because I did nearly 15 km with nearly 370 m of positive ascent at a real pace of 5.13 min/min, I’m not a Pro but I think it is pretty decent. With Strava magic my pace would have been 4.45 min/km, If I trust strava maybe I need to start asking Suunto and Salomon for some sponsorship.

-
@cosmecosta good point. If you use QS what moving time do you get there? I have also kinda the same concept

With QS I get the same than with SA…And with my last two runs Strava an SA match in time and pace, I guess Strava also has its bad days
.
The strava magic is even more hateful when you are in big mountains and with quite big climbs/uphills. There you need to mark the move as a race to have exactly the real time and pace. -
@cosmecosta you know how to force it to not do it ?
Just make a very quick pause.

Yeah I read your previous post, the thing is that I usually do not have this problem, only from time to time…Not big deal anyway
-
@cosmecosta roger dat
-
ha - i did a cycle at the weekend - 6h15 in Suunto app; 1h 45 according to Strava! Now THAT is a serious discrepancy. But Suunto GPS also messed up, cutting off 15km from a 102km ride, visible on the map through skipped switchbacks etc.
-
@hermionet Sounds like you were in Endurance mode, not Performance.
-
@Brad_Olwin Ha! that might explain it… perhaps! i’ll double check next time…
