Which is your favourite S9 strap?

How secure is the fit of the velcro straps? Does it take a lot of effort/force to get it off your wrist?
I once lost an Ambit 3 during windsurfing because in a move I bumped my wrist which caused the buckle to break and guess what… Ambits can’t swim
Now I use the original silicone strap that came with the S9B, but I secure the strap with an extra wrist strap because I’m pretty confident S9’s also can’t swim.
If I could replace the strap with a velcro one it would be great (and a better fit).My problem is to buy it. 2 shops and nothing. more than 2 months of waiting…

My favorite strap for winter runs, where Suunto adds + one longer strap so you can wear the watch on your clothes![0_1610107853545_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 91%)![0_1610110934043_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 91%)![0_1610111011524_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 89%)![0_1610270854140_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 96%)

Hi guys. My two cents here I bought my S9 (non-baro) with a lime silicon strap ( https://www.suunto.com/Products/Straps/suunto-24mm-athletic-silicone-strap/suunto-24mm-athletic-3-silicone-strap-lime-black-size-m/ ). I use this one for most of the sports and I love it. But for daily use I also don’t find silicon straps too comfortable.
I have bought Suunto velcro strap (I have two: lime and black). They’re much better for daily use, but not as elastic as I would prefer. They still feel a bit stiff, even after several months of use…
Around a year ago someone mentioned the Hook Strap by Nick Mankey (https://nickmankeydesigns.com/all-hook-straps) in a facebook group and I gave this one a try. It’s marvellous! Soft, elastic, the watch sticks to your wrist like glued without feeling any pressure
Even though it’s so stretchy, the watch stays firmly at my wrist and doesn’t move when I shake my hand…The design seems slightly weird at the first time, but once you get used to it, you’ll love it. Changing the strap is slightly slower than with the original Suunto straps because the spring bars are not attached to the strap (from time to time they jump out of my hands while changing and I spent some time trying to find them on the floor ). But I still exchange this strap with a silicon one almost every day when I go running without any significant problems.
There’s only one disadvantage (actually quite a big one): Suunto uses non-standard bolt-action spring bars that are thicker. Those ones provided with the hook strap are a bit too thin for S9. I have visited Suunto service center in Prague and they sold me the Suunto ones for a total of ~ 10 EUR. Optionally, you can probably extract the Suunto spring bars from an original Suunto strap if you have one that you don’t use.

@inkognito this looks awesome.

@inkognito
Can you post a pic of the pins, by the side of the watch, please. -
@stromdiddily Really? For me is very good in hot weather and swimming? See, each arm is a story. I don’t ask about the owner of the arm
-
@sartoric Like this?
And this is the difference between standard 24mm pin (top) and Suunto pin (bottom).

Awesome ! Thanks for the advice. Do you know if we can order the spring bars without going through customer support ? Also how are the straps during sports activity like running ?
-
@inkognito awesome pics but I looked at their site and they are out 10 weeks min…sorta depressing.
-
@Tom When I ordered mine, I tried to look for the suunto-sized pins on the internet. I didn’t find anything quickly available. But maybe that changed. Suunto service center is like 3 km from my flat, so I went there
During running, the watch is very stable with this strap. And it feels lighter than with the silicon one. But in 90 % of cases I still use the silicon strap for running. I usually sweat like hell and washing the silicon strap after a run takes 5 seconds under the tap and drying is equally fast Apart from some sports I wear the hook strap 24/7.@fazel Yeah, I can see that now. When I ordered mine (February?) the waiting time was ~ 2-3 weeks.

@inkognito
Yep, thank you.So in fact you’re using suunto’s pins, isn’t it?
-
@sartoric Yes, indeed. Suunto’s pins seem much more solid. I was afraid of breaking the plastic watch casing where the strap is attached by using those thinner (and shorter on sides) pins that came with the hook strap.

Don’t worry, it would never happened you would have lost the watch faster

@Luís-Pinto Guys, i have contacted official retailer in Russia about availability of velcro straps ( only red ones are in store for now, no black). They convinced me Suunto is still producing it, next delivery is expected by Feb2021. So both black and red ( size M) will be available for purchase. Some gap of deliveries due to mass logistic issues esp. in China border. No lime color version ordered(((
-
@Atlen Thanks, I finally have found a retailer from Athens that i bought a black one.

Coyote nato strap

Velcro strap is my favorite too, was lucky to get the black and red when they were in stock in Mexico , looking forward to buy the new ultra-soft microfiber strap if Suunto ever sells them separately
And today the new microfiber straps are out on Suunto store online , ordered mine already
-
@herlas let us know how do you like that.
-
The only problem is it hurt litle bit because it’s woven very tight compare to other nato strap or even the traverse alpha who is softer and more flexible.
But it give a very badass look !
It’s a tool but a nice one ! -
@g287-sf the one you have is not the new microfiber, it’s some kind of textile strap
