Ongoing problems with altitude
-
Since one week my Suunto Baro 9 provides totally wrong ascent / descent information. The workout at the screenshot was ascent only until the break and a descent only after the break (white = current height). I’ve also added the air pressure at sea level (green).
Also the GPS track is shown on my screenshot.
What could be the problem? Defect barometer? -
Have you ever cleaned it ?
-
Cleaned the watch? Not really. I’ve it on often during showering

@regger
So first try to clean the baro with warm water (soak it a bit) and mild soap, rinse it, shake it a little bit and let it dry.
Then, if you see no changes, you can try to brush it with a soft (really soft) toothbrush while rinsing with warm water.
If nothing change… ask suunto support -
Thanks for the hint! Will try.

Search for “fridge test” too -
@regger I cleaned senzor yesterday, because pressure and height changed 3x times per minute on same place and during last activity there was in reality about 120 m ascent / descent and watch showed me 1500 m . I just left my watch in water with me during bathing in bath (with soap and under 50 degrees temperature) and this helped
I was swimming in first part of last year for 2 - 3 times per week, so this cleaning wasn’t neccesary, but this year I wasn’t swim and sensor was totally confused. Now all is working fine -

Search for “fridge test” tooI tried this. No success. So my Suunto 9 goes back, warranty is still void. Made a exercise with my old Ambit 2 - oh i miss the reliability of the ascent / descent meter calculation - just around 1% deviation.

Wearing watches that are not very waterproof (200m) in the shower is asking for moisture to get into them. Not sure if it is because of the temperature changes and pressure changes that occur in them or because of the soap.

Sorry to hear this, the S9 can be great, here is a comparison with A3P and S9 and S7 for Hill Intervals last Thursday. All three are essentially identical and you can see the FusedAlti engage for S9 and S7.
